Lightning without rain or thunder? 7 mins of almost 3 straight hours.

I filmed almost 50 mins in total of the same thing. Lightning without any rain or thunder, just silent skies. Very eerie, almost ominous feeling too. This went on for almost three hours straight. No sound. The entire sky was lighting up at one point. I have always loved watching stormy skies, thunder and lightning in particular. But in all my years, I have never seen this before. Lightning has always brought rain and especially thunder. what do you make of this? Since filming, we had a 2nd night of exactly the same thing happening. Not normal at all. Are we seeing some form of "testing" taking place?

    Background noises were me moving my chair, wind catching the mic and my cat, as well as some people on the street below.
