i love how this was just a reverse chronological list lol

I'm convinced you could set the Wii U to 480p, run New Super Mario Bros. U and use it as background footage in a video about New Super Mario Bros. Wii and no-one would be able to tell.

Something I love about the original NSMB is that there are SO many gimmicks that are used for a single level or two, and then NEVER AGAIN. Balloon Boos, Snailicorns, screen wrapping, Chains Chomps, underwater tornadoes, weird drawbridge platforms, the list goes on! It does a really good job of keeping the game from getting stale.

People who lump DS in with the others confuse me. Unique Bosses Different soundtrack with the best castle theme in a 2D Mario Insanely fun Mario vs Luigi Mode Fun minigames Blue shell powerup
  • @agentomecha634
The DS game feels the most unique. Probably because it was the first. It also has the better castle theme and unique bosses. It’s my personal favorite of the “New” series.

The equivalent of ranking bread from stalest to least stalest
  • @NsmUnited
Scott didn’t even mention the Mario vs Luigi mode from NSMB DS, which was one of the most fun and hectic local multiplayer modes in history, 🔥🔥

now that i think about it WHY THE HELL DID THEY ADD TOADETTE INSTEAD OF DAISY!? If they wanted a Princess so bad, THEY SHOULD HAVE ADDED DAISY
  • @JoeyJ0J0
New Super Luigi U is great. The shorter harder stages are a lot of fun and I love the emphasis on speed. It's good.
  • @jamesesterline
1:47 I absolutely love that idea, I'd love to see a game combining all of the levels and powerups from all of the NSMB games. I'd love to see a mod doing something like that.
  • @simondelisle9310
The thing is, none of them are bad. Are they similar ? Yes, but they all have enough quality to be fun.
  • @user-zw3on4bx2t
Not saying i hate them or ever did, but these games are like Ice Age: making a crap ton of money while leaving zero cultural impact outside of one miniscule thing.

I love the original DS game, because it was the killer app for the DS, the biggest reason I bought the DS in college, it was an original handheld Super Mario game in years that’s not a remake! I also played the multiplayer mode in the game with my cousins, because they always wanted to play it at birthday parties!

"New" Super Mario Brothers for the DS is 3y away from being as old as the original Super Mario Brothers was when NSMB released.
  • @Luigi_Madyo
4:00 I just love how the gamepad is trying its hardest to block luigi
  • @Nerdtendo6366
New Super Luigi U still kicks ass to this day U Deluxe doesn’t
  • @bartowo
this is the 7th time you have talked about the new super mario bros series this week
  • @MobiBit645
People were so excited to have a new traditional Mario game since the Gameboy that Nintendo thought they could play the Microsoft card and release the basically same thing across 5 consoles and 2 and a half console generations
  • @GoldStorm07
One of the funniest things you can do in any Mario game is getting a Mega Mushroom in stock for the final castle in NSMB DS, going through until the Bowser fight, and turning giant to just plow through the end boss. I loved doing that as a kid, and challenging myself to do the whole castle without taking a hit made me learn the finer points of the game's controls.

I actually enjoyed playing U Deluxe when it first came out since I never had a Wii U, but then I got Wonder. Played through Wonder, wanted more Mario platforming, popped U Deluxe back into my Switch and that lasted about 5 minutes before I put it away again
