  • Here where I live brake checking is considered a criminal offence.
  • I remind myself everytime I grab the car keys, that I should expect the worst from people. they never disappoint.

Kids, this is why you bring a dashcam always with you. A hundred bucks will save a thousand.
  • @eamonfire
Especially when it's almost certain that the truck will have a dashcam on board. Enjoy the hike on your insurance.

Remember kids, if you feel someone is being unsafe on the road, it’s always the better decision to make the situation even more dangerous.
  • @stevecooksley
"Don't bother even arguing, I've got it all on dashcam".
  • @carolan3269
I've noticed that when any driver leaves the correct safe space between himself and car ahead, someone else will come into it as if invited!
  • @ap4709pk
Why would you brake check anyone? You’re only gonna lose.
  • A: Don't tailgate someone B: If you are being tailgated don't make the situation 100× more dangerous by brake checking them
  • Old saying. " you can argue with a truck driver but you cannot argue with his truck".
  • @boowson
In Poland, no matter what, if you bump into another car, its 90% your fault because of "not maintaining safe distance from following car". The break checker would say they saw a cat running through the road and it clears them. Always keep safe distance
  • @alexandersze49
But at the same time, that truck was unbelievable close to the vehicle. In the case of a real emergency brake situation the truck would’ve been in serious trouble anyway

When I'm being tailgated, I reduce speed slowly so that the vehicle me has enough distance to stop. Plus it might also piss them off more 😊
  • @davidwilhelm7466
I'm a strong beliver in proper following distance. Something happened 3 cars in front of me on the interstate. The car 2 cars in front of me stopped. The car behind them (the one in front of me) ran into them. Me driving a Chevy 1/2 ton stopped (without hitting them). The car behind me ran into my trucks hitch. And the car behind them ran into them. Police wrote it up as 2 separate accidents. It doesn't matter what your driving. Propper following distance will prevent most accidents. My truck out of the 5 vehicles involved was the only one with no damage.

I’m so glad nearly everyone has a cam, busting people of their lies. 😊
  • The way you reciprocate an HGV driver tailgating is by simply lifting your foot off the acceleration pedal, and (without even touching the brakes) let your vehicle drift to a very slow speed until they back off. You can't be done for brake-checking if you don't even touch your brakes, and doing this will really annoy anyone who's trying to impatiently bum your car. (Edited to correct grammatical errors)

Most of us have noticed that if you drive less than 60mph in front of a truck, they ALWAYS drive up close behind you to intimidate you. They pull out in front of you and take miles to overtake another truck that’s travelling 2 miles an hour less than them. Whilst brake checkers should be fined hugely, truckers shouldn’t be driving so close that they can’t stop.
