Why have u still not created a Patreon? This is a beautiful mission u have here, but u have been struggling financially for quite some time. Ur business model is broken fellas. U need to accept sponsors and membership at various tiers. It's the only way. Listen, even podcasts are privately struggling. Thats why u see so many podcasts chasing sponsors and creating enticing membership programs. Viewership doesnt bring enough income anymore. Please reconsider!!
  • @gpaje
Over 3 million subs, set up a Patreon (instead of expensive membership) of various monthly amounts, $2 and up. Likely will fix most of your finance issues.

Independent media is struggling all over, and many of such entities have already ceased to exist. The market of truly independent ideas is rapidly shrinking.
  • @idleeidolon
You need sponsorship from politically neutral brands, and a patreon of sorts.
  • @chicatwigz
People are beyond nasty in the comment section. I don’t watch every single upload but I always appreciate the fact Asian Boss is so consistent and trying hard to achieve their goals.
  • @mengie87
how about setting up a patreon?
  • @mydogisbailey
I donated in the first round, and I really want you guys to succeed. But tbh even I don’t really understand what the core purpose of AB is. You say it is bridging social gaps and important topics, but then I see a video about what is considered tall in SK, next to a video about how much foreigners make in Japan. What is the theme? It’s confusing to me what the audience is. Is it people who are interested in geopolitics? People interested in moving to Asia? Weebs and otakus? Other? Those are all extremely different, which is why I think it’s hard for u to build a community.
  • @LordRixuel
Try setting up a Patreon. I saw other Youtube content creators get a Patreon

Thank you for the quality interviews over the years. Honestly, would love to have this channel continue with sponsorship and a patreon. This channel is so insightful to asian cultures, news and issues over the years. I hope yall can seriously consider for the good of the subscribers and for the youtube community at large😊.

I've been watching your videos for years now and I'm extremely sad to see such an thought provoking channel struggle. I hope things take a turn for the best.
  • Please don't walk way!!! Asian Boss provides so many perspectives and point of views that the mainstream media doesn't. I love your contents and channel. Fighting!!!
  • @Housesider
You guys do have a ton of support from the fanbase, so a Patreon is honestly the logical route from here, and sponsors would probably be more likely to work with you as well due to the openness.
  • @chibiusa
Your hearts are in the right place. And yeah, you're right, other media companies have either gone bankrupt or are struggling right now. But you guys really need to sell merch, have a patreon, etc. like other channels. $10/month is A LOT for most people. Look up what happened to Watcher and the backlash they received for it. Create lower tiers like $1-3/month and $5/month. Start accepting sponsorships that align with your values or promotes tourism or something. I think most people will understand if you need to include ads from sponsors in your videos going forward.
  • This channel needs to take sponsors. That’s just the way the business works. Many of the journalist channels have to do so in order to maintain operations
  • @anthonymc8361
I can't believe we are back at this point again. Well that just further proved that your business model was not working. Pivot, change, adapt. Patreon is the easiest and most logical way!
  • why does this keep coming up? this is not the first time this happened. your business model is flawed, u can't make money based only on a youtube channel for years now. it's getting tiring hearing this. sell merchandise, open a gofundme, get a patreon, get responsible sponsorships/endorsements, do livestreams where people can give money. there is a will, there is a way. if u yourself is not willing to be creative and expand yourself, then there's nothing to do. there are many other 'news channel' in the internet, many are doing similar things like yours. you have to be able to rise above them and be more cause u guys are the first ones to do it.

7:18 Kei directed Steven to talk more about his upbringing but he only talked about part time jobs. I was genuinely curious how he grew up though, wanted to hear more.
