you are watching two psycopaths trying to out psychopath the other
  • @Makkino
I feel like Tom thinks he's in a movie all the time.

Remember 20 years ago when Tom Cruise was speaking out against the pharmaceutical industry and the media told you he was insane?
  • @vanle3828
As someone who's on antidepressants and briefly studied psychology, I agree with his points to an extent. Biological treatments are reductionist and don't address the root causes of many disorders.

No woman can love tom cruise as much as tom cruise does
  • @1banez
When Tom is starting to repeatedly call you by your name, you know you're in for a trouble.
  • @donaldsmith5667
Matt Lauer is so smug in this interview. Tom Cruise was more than courteous and professional the entire time.

As someone who's taken Ritalin for a number of years: My personal experience is it change my life for the better. But in saying that, I can still see 100% where Tom is coming from and he brings out a lot of solid points. Just because these psychiatric medications work for some people as perscribed, that doesn't mean it's the "end all be all". Despite being on the medication, I can understand where he's coming from when he talks about it masking the real issues

Cutting the camera to Katie Holmes made this the weirdest, most awkward interview I’ve ever watched.
  • @Max-bu5ky
I feel like tom cruise stares at walls and laughs at it
  • @borbgorbon
Can't help but feel like they cut out what he said to make Tom upset
  • @borbgorbon
He's not even mad, he's very calm and normal throughout the whole interview
  • @CynderSpirit
Tom Cruise " I don't care about what other people think." The same guy who try to sue South Park for making fun of him and his Scientology beliefs.

Note how lighthearted and friendly he is and as soon as Scientology and psychiatry are mentioned, he gets defensive and sharp. I find it hilarious that he described it as "electric shocking people against their will." But hooking people up to e-meters for auditing, locking them in The Hole, and disconnecting them from others that's perfectly okay. 🙄 So I guess if someone breaks their leg or some other problem, they shouldn't seek treatment. I have Depression and Anxiety and take meds and get therapy. They work for me and while I admit psychiatry has problems, so does the mecical profession as a whole. You work on it, you improve it, you make cruel inhumane treatments illegal, and you help people now.

I think I actually agree with TC. When I was 12, I developed Anorexia, Panic Disorder and my then GP prescribed Valium and I took it whenever. This led to my feeling very ill, suicidal and I then spent my late teens, 20’s 30’s seeing many Psychiatrists who handed out many different types of antidepressants, mood stabilisers, strong meds like Lithium, Benzodiazepines, sleep pills. Often all at once, changing everything I had another appointment. Decades of bad therapy and now at 62, I have a neurological disease. I have tried to get off these meds but I just can’t. I’ve read a lot about psychiatry and feel very strongly that I should not have been given these medications at 12 years old. What have they done to me, what harm have they caused. They’ve not ‘fixed’ me and I became so ill possibly as a result and have been unable to live a normal life. I’ll never know now.
  • Don't know why Tom Cruise goes on interviews he's so so touchy and opinionated imagine living with him
  • Im afraid to comment on Tom Cruise videos, coz last time I did, there was a black van parked outside my house for a week.
  • @machtmer
Indexing for what passes for “civilized” conversation in modernity…this was actually a very topical, rational discussion of an important issue. I remember at the time it was heralded as “totally off the rails”; I think now we (regrettably) have a whole new understanding of off the rails.
  • @RaleighLink
Tom was 100% correct about pharmaceuticals. People have no idea how dangerous they are even though they’re so commonly prescribed.
