I played this song for a few friends. None of them liked it. Clearly I need new friends
  • This song reminds me of how short life is, I'm 75 now and still working as a master craftsman, restoring old buildings. I'm using tools that I have had for 60 years and some tools that my father gave me which are over 100 years old. The tools look like they were made yesterday, I look like I was made 75 years ago. This alone brings home to me my own mortality and how fleeting everything is. I still have a metal milk saucepan that wife and I won at a raffle, it is still new looking after 50 years of use. My wife has now gone to beyond the sunset, and I am still here with all the memories. Take time to smell the roses everybody before that kind old nurse called death rocks us all to sleep.

My father played this on his acoustic guitar when I was a young boy. He was a classically trained violinist but after he finished school he settled into the guitar. He just died and this was the first song I thought of. RIP dad…

It's the summer of 2024... if you are listening to this, you have great taste in music
  • Isn't it ironic? This song is about the impermanence of everything we do, and yet, after all these decades, it still remains a masterpiece.

I played this at my daughter’s funeral. She loved Kansas and often played this song. I am weeping as I listen to this. Please love those around you because when they are gone all you have left is the dust of their dreams.
  • Im 23 and i had no idea this song was from 1977, wowies. I hope my generation doesnt lose this beautiful piece of work❤

Sitting here crying. Can't help it. I bought this album for my son in early 1978 I believe . He was 12 and he really liked Kansas and Boston at the time. A great kid who grew up with a real appreciation of classic rock . I absolutely loved being his father and watching him grow into a man. He and I became the very best of friends when he got older . I have personally never seen a father and son as close as we were. We worked together for 15 years and never had one argument . Pancreatic cancer stole my son from me and my life is not and never will be the same for me . I miss him so . Sleep well my son you are always in my heart and in my mind also .
  • I cant believe Hulk Hogan, Bob Ross, Hagrid and Rambo all collaborated to make this beautiful song.

My dog just recently crossed over the rainbow and I dedicate this song to my dear friend. I fought everything that I can and I have to save her, yet God has other plans. Life has been quiet since she's gone.

This song was one of my husband's favorite songs of long ago. He's been gone many years now, and whenever l hear it l remember our young days together still. I miss you, Jim.

Condolences to the family, fans and friends of Robby Steinhardt, who left us today at 71.
  • The departure of Robby Steinhardt in 2021 at age 71 leaves a hole in my heart; "Dust in the Wind" is not the same without him and his violin.

My fiance was killed in a helicopter crash in 1978. He was a Marine. This was the song that was playing on the radio at the time. Every time I hear it, I am transported back in time, and I think about all of the plans we had, that were ended in a flash.

This song ain't depressing, it's liberating. It reminds us, our impermanence isn't a curse, it's a call to live every moment like a precious jewel, sparkling in the sunlight before it fades.

This was my mom’s favorite song and she expressed to me in conversation once that she wanted this at her funeral. Well she went to Heaven last Saturday on New Year’s Eve. As any good daughter, I fulfilled her wish. Every time I hear this song, which I have come to love, I will feel my mom’s presence with me.

I always listened to this song everyday when I was on the way home from college in 1988. Freeway at that time was very empty and peaceful. Times fly so fast and my hairs have turned gray...
