I know, Poland asked for french soldiers, but it wasnt enough, so, they hired magical girls with powers that can trow huge spikes of ice in the 109s and brake all kind the laws of physics and sht.

Im gonna say WW2... with obvious stand-in nations fighting one another, with one being more or less superior due to various reasons, and the losing side has... a teenage girl that has magic powers, and ends up turning the tide of the war because of it... *Looks up the actual plot* ...I need to get some Advil...

I do appreciate how the maker left out any of the magic moments (Ice spears aside) to make it about the bravery of soldiers and the chaos of war. My Great-Grandfather on my fathers side fought for Kaiser and Fatherland during the First World War and my Great-Grandfather on my mothers fought for King and Empire during the same. This song and video remind me of stories I have read from their diaries.

There's one thing I love so much about this anime, its the final stand of the defending country. It always seemed heroic to me.

All you hear is the evil noise of artillery, gunfire, whistling of falling bombs, roaring of engines, and see people you trained and fought with get blown to pieces right in front of your own eyes. I never want to go to war, I wouldn't last. R.I.P All soldiers who lost their lives defending their country and what they thought was right.

1:58 nice attention to detail none the less. Princess' Honor Guard protecting the Captain of the Guard, by jumping in front of the line of fire. It's a subtle but brilliant detail.
