Why Does Everyone Despise Russell Wilson? Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson is not playing well. Thanks to MANSCAPED for sponsoring today’s video! Get 20% OFF + Free Shipping on your order with my link manscaped.com/goodsports

Criticizing the quarterback for poor play on the field is fine. Poking fun at him for being corny, is fine, but why does it seem like everyone is now taking shots at his character? From his time in Seattle with Richard Sherman to his struggles as a Bronco and national media personalities like Kyle Brandt it seems like the narrative around Russ is changing, and people are taking shots.

  • @Chafe3
People hate Russell Wilson more than Deshaun Watson and that’s depressing
  • @Bert889
I saw Russell Wilson one time in a hospital, visiting with parents of a critically injured infant. He did this weekly in Seattle. He has my respect if he never throws another touchdown.
  • @IAMSLAY
I worked with Russell for 3 years and he is the same dude on and off the field. Goof ball for sure. But always a great person. A lot of the animosity former players have towards Russ is because of how Pete held others to a different level of accountability then he did Russell.

I think Russ has some ego about him that puts people off, but he doesn’t pass blame, and he’s an actual good person off the field. He’s a good father and family man, he’s altruistic and he genuinely cares about his friends. He’s not the quarterback he thought he was-at least not this year. His only crime is trying to be his best and lacking personality.

Some great takes on this situation. I always felt like Russ was just kind of corny but a really good dude. I thought it was terrible that fans booed him at the Broncos-Seahawks game. Dude won more games in his first 9 or so seasons than any other QB in history and for our team. How easy people forget stuff like that. Like you said, he hasn't broke character yet. You don't fake going to a Children's Hospital every week for like 6 years lol
  • A little perspective on one thing from a Hawks fan: You (like most people) saw him rush back from injury to not quit on his team. I saw him insist that he was healthy when he wasn't, come back just as Geno was hitting his stride, play like crap for three games, and then FINALLY admit that he came back before he was healthy. We went from Geno putting up 31 pts (against the Jags, but still) to being shut out for the first time in a decade, with Wilson insisting all the while that he was healthy, which nobody believed for a second. Here's the thing about Wilson- I'm sure he really believed that the team was better off with him playing injured than with Geno. Endless positivity is Wilson's brand and it has worked for him, but it's gotta come with some Ws or it just comes off as ego and wishful thinking to the fans.
  • I’m a hawks fan since birth. I feel for Russ. Loved him in Seattle and will forever be grateful for his time. I’m rooting for him still and feel like he’s getting shafted for trying to look out for him and his family.
  • @kameron9289
I am from Seattle and all I am saying is I have a good friend who was a patient at the Children's Hospital for many years during the Seahwaks era. He has at least three pictures of him with Russel Wilson while he was in the hospital. Russ didn't do these good causes for the media but because he is a good guy.
  • Honestly why did we have to give him this massive contract before he took a single snap ?
  • @tarzan6721
Saying he’s in the Truman show.. and knows it.. is the single best way to describe his attitude this season😂
  • @danr.7982
As a 49ers fan all I can say is, if we were playing Russell Wilson, I had a strong feeling we were gonna lose. I hated playing that guy. Say what you want but this guy won a ton of games with his talent and skillset. I respect him as a player and as a person.
  • @mikelin2703
I think Russell Wilson is really a good guy who tries to be too careful in speaking to the media (or anybody) that he comes across as fake or ingenuine. He is also very religious, which can make some people uncomfortable when he talks to them. The guy has never done anything wrong off-the-field other than doing corny commercials. He can rub people the wrong way, but he is hardly Public Enemy #1.
  • @vinnye930
I've never hated russ. I think he's declined, and relied alot on his speed and athletic ability. I also think he's incredibly corny, but I'll take a guy who's corny over genuinely bad people like Antonio brown, Deshaun Watson, Ben Roethlisberger etc
  • If him being corny is the worst thing about him then there’s no problem tbh lol
  • @Brief-Cases
The Carlton Banks insult got me 😂😂😂
  • @cs3473
Richard Sherman never met a grudge he didn't like...
  • Marshawn even talked about wanting to reach out to Russ on Sherman's podcast. He said if he can't reach out directly to him he isn't going to talk to him. So maybe the fact he has handlers and PR teams in the way are the reason that no one is backing him up.
  • When I get depressed, I look back at reactions to the trade when it first happened. Broncos fans were ecstatic, Seahawks fans were devastated. It puts the toxicity recently in perspective
  • More intellectual, reflective and thoughtful than professionals on networks, honestly, with an extra dose of comedic brilliance. You are a special one my guy!
