Walk in Kamakura Japan from Kita-Kamakura Sta to Kamakura Sta.

Published 2024-04-16
To be honest, I didn't know there was a road in a place like this. This is a mountain road that is not listed on Google Maps.

Get off at Kita-Kamakura Station, where you can encounter the real Kamakura, and walk to Jochiji-temple, which is said to have been founded in 1281.

Then, if you walk all the way to the back, you will find a secret staircase leading up to the mountain.

After climbing the stairs and crossing the mountain path, you will arrive at Genjiyama Park. There is Kuzuharaoka Shrine.

Then, as you descend from the park, you will arrive at Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine, a Japanese heritage site said to bring the most luck in Kamakura.

Also, if you walk for 10 minutes from there, you will arrive at Sasuke Inari Shrine, which is lined with beautiful torii gates. It is a very popular power spot among both Japanese and foreign tourists.

I'm sure local people have been using this road to reach the sea in Kamakura and Yuigahama for over 800 years.

Feel free to watch the video until the end if you're feeling adventurous.
