A favorite fashion choice for pilots, film directors, and horseback riders, the jodhpur has quite an interesting history. So lets talk about my favorite kind of pants.

Also while doing research I found this cool old family vacation video from 1933 in Yosemite. I wanted to use more footage from it but just couldn't squeeze it in so I'll leave the link here because its just too cool not to share!

  • If that’s the style of johdpur I need to better leap about in my Florida scrub and show my love of polo you just sold me on this style of jodhpurs!
  • @NelsonStJames
Since a kid I’ve always loved the look of jodphurs, and still do.

As a lifelong equestrian, I knew that riding breeches had suddenly gotten snug around the hips when elastic was developed, but I had no idea how they had come about in the first place. Such a neat idea for a video !

1 min in and I already liked and subscribed. The dedicated research. The animations. The studied pronunciations. The perfect level of background music. Every element of this video is at such a high level of production and I'm already such a fan. Can't wait to dive into the rest of your videos and see what you come up with next. Keep up the great work!

Great video! I was in a cavalry unit and we had the old style jodhpurs. They were so comfortable. And I think they look great. You looked terrific!
  • I have always wondered why jodhpurs were always puffed at the top. Now I know. I really loved the footage of your exploits wearing those wonderful pants, especially the adventuring attire - so practical and sooooooo cute! Thanks for posting.

Great video! I knew they were from Jodhpur but didn't know the rest of the story.
  • Insane how such an informative and well done video have such few views
  • This video was sooo informative!!! Ive been wondering about this very thing for a while and I'm sooo thankful I found your video because of all the amazing footage!!!

What a wonderful video. Tess, you can really rock a pair of johdpurs! I did the whole Pony Club thing when I was a girl and loved my cream 'johds'!
  • @texasoilfields
Fabulous video. You could expand this one to an hour and I’d be captivated. Also, your sense of humour shown through, so extra props.
  • Wow, just doubled across your channel via recommendations and I'm so glad I did! Always keen for more well-produced costube content 😁 Was never a big fan of the "full diaper" look of jodhpur thighs in the past, nor of that of their semi-successor the "MC Hammer pants", but I have to say you made them look super-glamorous in your outdoor adventure outfits!

This was such a wonderful history, I'm Indian myself (not N. Korean) and had no idea of this. Thanks a tonne Tess!

My gods, you are dee-LISH!! Oh, the jodhpurs are too... cool vid :)

Great video. Very good cinematography. Good script. A great item of clothing. But please tell me you did not actually feed those bears. You may have noticed while here that we have t-shirts that say things like, "Fluffy Cows 10, Visitors 0." And the ever popular, "Bears 7, Tourist 0."

Very well done video and great explanation! Never heard before of those pants. I often listen to Evelyn Woods sewing videos and there she told about her project making jodphurs. Thank you❤. Its so pleasant to see you and to listen to your voice. You are even a lovely commedian in your spots😀😍. Please keep on doing your videos❤
