Motor Puttering, Squealing and Reversing Issue 1650kv TH Motor 15A Avian ESC in Ultrafly Radix 3D

Publicado 2022-11-29
Update: 12-08-2022 Its NOT the motor. I've tried different motors now. A cheap 1500kv ALMOST works unless I punch the throttle to full repeatedly and then it starts squealing again, sputtering and at times reversing. So, except for the receiver the only thing that hasn't changed are the ESCs I'm using. Two different ones but same Avian 15a. There has to be a setting I am missing. I can't believe 2 brand new ESCs are bad and won't work with any of the motors I've tried...I will email Horizon support and hope they can help. If not, I guess I try a different brand of ESC because I have other planes with the same motors, props and less popular brand ESCs that work great.

I owned this plane 15 plus years ago and recently found one on Ebay new in box so I am anxious to get this problem sorted out so I can fly it again with a brand-new power system and radio. So, the motor spins up just fine with no prop and with the larger prop I want to run (APC8x4.7) barely spins so I put this prop on to test it as it was the smallest prop I had on hand, and it worked a little better but still not running right (plus it's an Aeroscout prop so for a pusher)

Setup is: Spektrum 4 Channel Sport Receiver, Avian 15amp ESC, Twisted Hobbies 1650kv motor and Hitec Servos. I have tried timing settings, brake setting but will check connections etc. and keep working on it and hopefully update as I go in case anyone else has this issue. I found very little online about similar issues and no answers so far other than check connections and check timing.

Tried second ESC and also 2s batteries suggested by the people I got it from, and it looks like the motor may be bad or it's entirely possible I'm missing something. Either way they will make it right or I'll buy the recommended setup if the motor proves to be fine. Update: I tried another motor from a different company, started out just fine, seemed to be ok but when I start punching to full throttle rapidly the SAME THING HAPPENS! So different motors and batteries but 2 versions of the same ESC. So maybe it's the 15a Avian ESC that's the problem. I must need to find the correct setting to prevent this from happening but who knows what. Next step is an email to Horizon support.
