First thing you pay each month is your rent. You have to pay the rent.

I have been paying rent all my life. My rent came first, always first. Did I live on bread and water? Yes I did.

For 13 years, my dad payed 60% of his monthly income on one bedroom apartments, and the stress of moving all by himself overnight twice only to go to work the next morning. He got me and my little brother all the way through to high school in the same neighborhood, a promise he considered important, without ever letting me or my brother see his struggle or want for anything. It breaks my heart to think about the hardship.

As a landlord, I feel for the landlords. Mortgage still needs to be paid no matter what, it is not the responsibility of the landlord to basically pay for these families to live for free. People need to find places that they can afford. There shouldn't be cable on if you're getting evicted.

If a tenant isn't paying rent how is the landlord going to pay for necessary repairs?

As a prior landlord, it is the hardest job I ever had. Exams, nonpayment of rent, large amount of damage, endless trash inside and out, etc. Most of our rentals were older, but the highest amount of rent charged was 700.00. When we finally sold all 6 homes, at a loss, I felt the world lifted off my shoulders. People want everything for free.
  • This country is so quick to help other countries what about the people who was born here where is there help .

Finacial education, budgeting, family planning should all be taught in school. A lot of these issues could be avoided if people knew this, and followed it.
  • 500 for rent isn't unreasonable. From the time they're children, people should be educated that you have to pay to stay. You're not going to get to live somewhere for free

I have grown boys, I stay on them about the point of working their butts off. Work two jobs if u have to. Things will not get better in this world. God bless all you guys and girls trying to make it.

What about the property owners who can’t pay the mortgage because they not getting the rent?

Doesn't sound like the elderly gentleman can take care of himself. He needs a casewker.

Minimum wage is the perfect storm, for eviction.🤔
  • @pamelaward7515
If you want to stay then pay your rent!!!! It's not the landlords place to let you stay for free!!!!
  • @ktimmons50
I understand the landlord has a right to be paid. You must pay rent. Steven Summers in my opinion is a decent guy. He's not a push over but he gave his tennent a chance to make up the payments.

In my neighborhood rent for two bedroom is $1000 a month. I am a LANDLORD I rent $600. I have expense to maintain the home. If my tenant doesnt pay they have to leave

If I was a landlord I would want to keep a good tenant who did not break the place up. I would rather charge a fair price than a higher price.

“25% - 30% of your income”. That’s laughable. I live on San Francisco. My house payment is 45% of my monthly income. But, it is what it is. It just means you have to budget your money.
