I served in the British Army as an Infantry/Combat Medic for 23 years. I was discharged 2 years ago with Complex PTSD. Shaun I just want to thank you for the content it truly has helped me through some dark days over the last few years. Keep up the great work.

My older sister committed suicide 6 years ago at 23 years old. She was a Marine. I miss her every day. I have also struggled with mental health almost my whole short life at 28. Veteran suicide is a national disgrace and avoidable with the correct care and support post deployment. Well done for keeping it in the spotlight.

I'm there right now. I'm constantly in a state of fight, flight, and freeze. Major depression and anxiety. My sleep is terrible. Night terrors, apnea, insomnia, and sleep paralysis. I've been sober in over 9 years and I still battle with this shit. I just started to admit the impact that trauma has had in my life. I've been divorced for about 4 years from a 30 year marriage and it still hurts immensely. I don't think I'll ever recover from it. I don't think suicide is an option. I've had people close to me and it just hurts the people that are close to you. I have three adult children and don't want to do that to them. Maybe plant medicine might be the answer but I don't think I can afford it. God bless you Shawn and your guests for shedding light on this difficult and deadly subject.

My Dad was a tunnel rat in Vietnam and he struggled for his entire life with drugs and alcohol, But I know he did the best he could and I appreciate this vantadge point. Very refreshing. Thank you

This is so amazing. I had a long career in the USAF (8- yrs) IA air National guard (23-yrs), reserve Retired (11-yrs)… I’ve suffered from childhood issues my whole life, but my job wasn’t combat traumatic… still, I’m surrounded with fellow veterans who have slowly or suddenly killed themselves. Both of my marriages failed… the last one after 31 yrs. I pray for Jonathan’s success in this program he’s building. Thank you Shawn for bringing this guest on.

my cousin who is a vietnam veteran and very distrustful of the v a and government never got all the money or medical care he was entitled to .In two thousand and fifteen I convinced him to go to the v a on Huntington NY. he walked in And I was met by a Female muslim psychiatrist who asked him" What are you here for the money?" He turned around and walked right back out. When I found out what happened I called up to speak to the doctor in charge and gave them a piece of my mind and told them I was calling every newspaper in New York to let them know what had happened.Every news channel and anybody who would listen. The next thing I know my cousin was called by this this supervising doctor , my cousin finally got the medical help he needed the mental help he needed and the financial help that he was entitled to !! Saved his life because he was suicidal, saved his home and his marriage. Be the squeaky wheel! Demand what you are entitled to starting with Respect! God bless our Veterans and active military. I have a buddy that served in Iraq and 2 deployments in Afghanistan. He is an alcoholic, he is going through a divorce and has two children, 7 and 5. I can see him going further and further down, and I can see this spiraling out of control real fast. What can I do for him? Where can he get help and support from others with similar situations? He lost two best friends in war and all of this seems to be mounting which in a few instances he has put a gun to his head. So any help would be great. We live in Georgia, northwest of Atlanta if that helps for places to get can go. Thank you and thank you Mr. Ryan for all your dedication and to your great guests.

This is the first podcast episode that I have sat around and waited for the same way that a kid waits on Christmas; I listened this morning on Spotify in its entirety. There are very few people I can point to and say, “They’re part of the reason I am still here”, but Shawn Ryan is one of them. I WANT to say that I cannot understand why - after the testimonies we hear - our government still has psychedelics listed as a Schedule One with the most lethal narcotics known to man despite there being no addictive feedback mechanism, but inherently I understand… It’s because almost every time psychedelics are a one time thing, and then you’re cured. The problem is that it doesn’t fatten the pockets of big pharma and the old sacks of leather running things who send men like these two to die in their wars as they continue to fatten their pockets. I am utterly disgusted by the way things are headed, and that disgust has literally almost killed me.
