I mean, the Smokys are getting shorter every year (and it is not JUST because I might pick up a rock or two every time I hike.....) and every house put up there makes it weaker and weaker. Those natural disasters are natural, and we get in the way. I am sorry for those peoples' loss.
  • The landslide was due to the fire on Wiley Oakley Road. It was the wildfire of several years ago and people were killed there it was so serious.

It IS a complete loss. Where it has happened once, in that ravine, it will happen again. It should never be rebuilt on that location.
  • @WhittyPics
Wiley Oakly Drive was also impacted by the wildfires several years ago?
  • Well I finally found something we don't get here in Florida......Landslides...😳

It's amazing how the weather can change in Tennessee summer and winter. But I like my part of Tennessee would not live no where else. Great video Eric . Take care❤beautiful family wowwww
  • We live in northern Illinois and own a cabin in Gatlinburg. We come to Gatlinburg for the mild weather. We always comment on how calm the wind is compaired to where we live. The ice and snow last one or two days then its 60. We are coming back this week because its 97 here and only 91 in Tenn.
  • That would have been scary to be in the cabin during the landslide !

Our mountains were meant to be majestic and unspoiled. The interlopers that have ruined it will suffer.

Good info for both residents and tourists to have. 👍
  • In Seattle, that's called "November". Someday I want to get out there for a vacation.
  • After living there 10 years and goong thru all of that including the fires....ya can keep it.
