The Rattan Pathfinder fat tire electric bike has 2 rare but useful features that I haven't seen on any other ebikes under $2,000 so far. Overall the Rattan Pathfinder is an above average ebike, and in my opinion (if price is a factor in your decision) there's at least a couple other fat ebikes you should take a look at before you buy an ebike (if the 2 or 3 main differentiating features on this electric bike aren't particularly important to you):

My Rattan Pathfinder review dives in and shows you everything you should know about this electric bike before you buy one without knowing the facts. Many inexperienced YouTube channel creators will hype up ebikes sent to them for free without showing you any of the bikes actual performance or any comparison to what other options are out there. The goal of my channel is to show you all of the good and the bad and give you a basis of comparison to other electric bikes so you can make a genuine informed decision on a relatively expensive item that'll potentially make or break your time in the summer sun this year.
If you enjoy my ebike reviews and find them helpful please drop a comment and consider purchasing a bike from one of my links if or when the time comes for you to click that order button and get outside in the sun and feeling the breeze!

I’ve heard that the regenerative motor feature has been removed from this bike in the comment section here due to problems with it, causing the motor to fail. At this point in time I can’t really recommend this bike anymore after hearing about these motor failures in the comments.

@TailHappyTV Oh man Matt, I LOVE your reviews, such HQ! Liked all seen so far..BUT this Rattan Pathfinder deserves a FAIR SHAKE! ️This is the MOST FULL FEATURED EBIKE on your channel Ive seen and has at least 5 BONUS FEATURES that most other ebikes dont have! ie. 15 Level SPEED CONTROL! (Normal, Sport, Eco, 3x5) Regen Braking w/Hydraulic Disk Brakes! Front Hydraulic Suspension w/ Remote Lockout! Color LCD w/ APP! 3A Fast Charger! 1200 Peak Watts/80nm! , 400lbs load capacity!😳 The only thing missing is rear suspension! Starting the review with only a 86% charge battery (in garage) when others were full is not fair to anyone esp. prospective buyers like ME!? 🤦‍♂ No parking garage incline at different modes? You didn't turn off the Cruise control. Slow start set on 2 (didnt change). No weight given for the bike? No long uphill climb like the Velotric Nomad? This ebike DEFINITELY deserves a more in-depth review over any other (w/ a better title like SUPREME QUALITY, than rhetorical "Terrible Fat Ebike"?! 😆) based on the 15 mode speed control and app ALONE! (turn OFF cruise control), and battery endurance (at FULL charge we could see how good REGEN IS?!) PLEASE 😎👍 ps. Despite all that I liked the video and will use your links. *No I don't work for Rattan, just AMAZED at their QUALITY and Yes they should be paying affiliates $$ for purchases!

Nice one Bro, thank you. The name alone is pure kickass - "Pathfinder". Although the Rattan 'Kickass' also has a certain vibe...
  • @dp9324
Yet another e-bike destroyed by the 20% grade test! I love that you do this for every bike, I purchased the Wired Freedom based on its pure domination of your grade/sand testing and it has happily lived up to every bit of your review!
  • @Gyfrctgtdbhf
Cop: “I saw you roll through that stop sign.” “Yeah?; but I was in regen mode.” “Oh okay then.” (says no cop ever).
  • It probably backing off the power when going slow to not cook the motor. If the motor is not moving and your pumping in 1000w you're just creating a heating element at that point, it will melt the copper windings fast. It's a safety feature not a bug.
  • @RobertGlazier
Nice bike and review. New subscriber to your channel. Thanks.
  • @MrSouthpaw7
Just so everyone knows the regen braking is no longer a thing on the pathfinder. I just received mine and it wasn’t working so I sent them a message about it and was told this… “The regen function is gone, we reprogrammed the controller and cancel this function. We found that this function recharges little power to the battery, and actually, this will decrease the life of the motor, so we decided to cancel this function. Canceling the regen function will not be a problem for the normal use and it will extend the life of motor.”
  • Thanks to this video, I became interested in rattan. I'm now awaiting my Pathfinder to arrive and will be creating some media content for Rattan!!!
  • In Austria we only have Himiway and a couple of other fat ebike retailers... i'd rather go for an ariel kepler or a rattan like this! So unfortunate they do not ship here
  • You should do a commuter/road test like you do on these ebikes using bottom tier priced E-MTB as from Canyon, Vitus, Giant, Marion, Trek, Orbea...........to see how they work as a dual purpose street bike. Just do the street test. See the range and handling as they are so much lighter and better components. Be curious the range of these in pure street mode.
  • @petersharps3923
you have Slow Start on 2 when you leave the garage, and when your speed decreases, the power also decreases :)
  • I really do love these videos, but I'm always like, "dude, how many bikes do you have? I have a single ebike and that took a bit of saving up to get."
  • @E-Ryders
    Now that's a Rattan I can support!
  • @IraQNid
Has something changed in hub motor power output? That looks like a 500 watt hub motor. I thought you said it is a 750 watt hub motor.
  • @Gilagain54
Does anyone know if these bikes use a torque or cadence sensor? Thank you,
  • @jamesmoore6424
I have only just started watching you videos... do the Hollywood sign run on this using the regen to enable yo to get home.
  • @ronhoward7563
curious how this compares to the Velotric Nomad 1? Rattan states on their website the motor is 750W with 1200W peak output. Yet your parking garage incline test with throttle only was not successful from a hard stop. But the Velotric Nomad 1 made the climb with an indicated 1200W on the display under the same conditions. Rattan also states 80nM of torque vs Nomad's 76nM. Any idea why the Rattan didn't have the oomph to make it up the incline? would love to see a head to head test with the Nomad 1 ;-)
  • @AZebikerider
I bought this on your review, sadly the kinetic regen isn't enabled any longer, but it's a good bike lots of power.
