Viewfinder reviewed by Tristan Ogilvie on PC. Also available on PlayStation 5.

"What Viewfinder lacks in story substance and compelling characters it more than makes up for via the pure, mind-boggling exhilaration of its perspective-warping puzzle solving. Its superb, photo-based environmental deformation doesn’t just break ground – it bends and stretches it into entirely new shapes and forms in the wake of each puzzle completed, while also introducing regular game-changing parameters that forced me to continually think outside the frame of my shots. The ability to transport yourself into paintings and screenshots makes for a journey that consistently captivates in between each carefully considered camera capture, and the rapid rewind function emboldens you to get creative with puzzle solutions without fear of retribution. Spellbindingly surreal and stimulating to the end, Viewfinder is the freakiest form of photo mode in which every snap is a happy one."

There is no way that it doesn’t get nominated for the most original game of 2023.

This is mindbending and brilliant, wow! Support these developers because we need more of this.

For me games like this is what gaming and game development is all about, pushing the creative limits of what's possible, something that's been lost in AAA gaming for a long time... thank the gaming gods for smaller studios still willing to push that creative envelope

This looks like the coolest puzzle game mechanic since Portal.

Unreal! So cool and creative. That’s got to be one of most unique game ideas I’ve ever seen. Definitely picking this is up if only to support the developers making this. Congrats on making something so fresh in such a saturated market.

Been dabbling with this this evening and it’s real fun. Almost finished the 2nd Level so far and not anything mind crushingly challenging yet but I’ve certainly grinned a few times when the answer finally clicked and the levels are introducing more features. Very reminiscent of Maquette insofar as both were PS5 games that looked kinda similar and played with size, perspective and some smartly designed puzzles.

Hope this game does really well. It's not everyday that you get blown away by a game's simplistic yet innovative quality.

It's rare the a review completely sells me on a game I've never heard of before like this

This was something like the idea value was working on as a replacement of portal 2. It was titled f-stop or aprecture camera.
  • @BozQ
Wow! This is great! Definitely want to get this!

Reminds me of 2D indie game Snapshot... Anyhow this looks and sounds awesome, definitely got to play this one.

From a game developer's perspective, I'm afraid to figure out how this is technically achieved
