I still think China is going to make a play for Siberia eventually. Whether that is just Manchuia or larger I don't know, but the advantages to China are too obvious not to want to.

The traditional role of a colony is to be a source of raw materials and to be a captive market for manufactured goods. Russia has become a colony in all but name.
