This time, the terror has followed you home. In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy's original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you.

Honesty, the fact that Nightmare's jumpscare is just a still image instead of an animation is a lot more intimidating to me. It's like something out of a... nightmare ;D

I think what makes nightmare so eerie is his that he throws us off of what we’re used to. The games were usually animatronics suddenly screaming in your face, and they were colorful. Nightmare just stares at you. Like he’s observing you. His red eyes stand out from the dark coloration of his body, so they (or his teeth) are the first thing you notice. Red is dangerous. Black is death. Nightmare is a threat

I actually find it a lot more scary as a still image, it’s more intimidating. That and the noises are unique to that jumpscare.

I know it’s controversial, but I actually think the jumpscare works best this way. Yes it may be more ‘scary’ as an animated jumpscare, but I think that would take away from the truly sinister and unknown nature of this creation. Also, whilst it doesn’t make the player jump out of their chair, it is scary in other ways, as in more disturbing and haunting
