Dream DIY Tiny House With Amazing Kid-Safe Loft

Published 2020-09-10
In this weeks episode, we visit a wonderful young family who have built their dream off-the-grid tiny house on wheels. There are so many advantages to DIY building a tiny house beyond just the cost. You get to put your heart, soul and character into a house to truly make it your own and that's exactly what's happened with this home.

Dan And Julie have built this beautiful home for themselves and their two children. All throughout this build there are many examples of ultra-clever design ideas, including a huge loft net to access the children's bedroom and the ability to create a fully secured kid-safe loft. This really is a fantastic design for a young family!

In this case, the family worked closely together with a builder to design and construct a lock-up house shell. This is a popular option for DIY builders, as it allows the structural part of the home to be professionally constructed, while still giving them all the freedom to build the interior fit-out by themselves.

This tiny house is also designed to be completely off-the-grid, allowing the family many options for places to park up their home in the future.

Dan works as a tattoo artist doing incredible designs for people all over the world. You can find out more about his work here: www.instagram.com/totemic_tattoo/

  • When adults still indulge their childhood dreams of a tree house and a fort! Love this sweet home and the space for the children. Thank you Bryce and Rasa

The clip where the mother is cooking and the father is tickling his daughter through the net is precious! 🤗🤗
  • @StarBudgets
The way they include their daughter in everything they do and how they teach her is heartwarming! You can see how wonderful of parents they are. Probably my favorite family from alllllll the videos I’ve seen.
  • This tiny has such a different aura from the other ones. The atmosphere is incredible. It feels like something out of storybook, like a toy house or like something out of Narnia, or Enid Blyton's Wishing Chair and Faraway Tree. It's difficult to put into words .. I think becos that green color is amazingly soothing yet playful to the senses. It definitely feels old, but also magical. I won't be too surprise if elves came out to play at night!

I absolutely love the way he looks at his wife, when she speaks. So beautiful 😍🙏😍
  • @stevearnold8467
I love the fact that it's not sleek and modern. This looks so much more homey and comfortable.
  • This is the first tiny home that seemed to take extra safety precautions to accommodate their small children. I love how the safety net doubles as a trampoline. If I was that little kid, I would be in heaven!
  • @peri3818
I love the art of the house. He seems like such a great father. When the kids living in tiny homes grow up I would like them to be interviewed on their experience. Would they choose that for their own family.

The loft net and being able to block off the staircase creates a huge play space for the children. I think their hard work will pay off in the years to come re: low or no mortgage payments and quality time with their children.

I like the idea of having professionals build the structure and then DIY detailing.

It's so nice to watch one of these videos and feel like both partners truly collaborated with their tastes in mind and the idea/hope of expanding their family. I often watch this channel and strongly feel like one partner had more of a say over the other regarding design, structure, arrangement, etc, but this feels like a family home that will allow their kids to be kids as they grow and I really appreciate that.

This seems like SUCH a happy family! This house really reflects their personality and it looks like the kids adore the place too.
  • This home is so beautiful, not only the exterior and interior, the layout, the bathroom, net and children's room but the overall energy of this home is so positive. The lil one is definitely daddy's girl and the love and respect they have for each other brings warmth in there. Thank you Bryce and Rasa for yet another beautiful home tour and introducing such happy family. God bless 💕

I wanna be their kid! What a lovely couple with a fun and comfy home.
  • @Tilly-bd4hc
This couple should design small homes for a living. Very impressed with how they manage 2 kids in such a compact space.
  • Greetings from california. im 22 and have been watching this channel for the longest time. I finally have a good paying job as an armed security guard and am finally committed to this tiny house lifestyle. I plan on building myself my own tiny home and one for my mother on the same plot of land since shes elderly and needs me. However she has always been independennt and I dont want Her to feel like a burden to me and my life since she cant retire on her own, so shed have her own affordable living space next door to mine. i hope I can end up on this channel to inspire others like this channel has done for me.
  • @juliechen7733
Bryce poking his head through the curtains as he's crawling into the kid's loft made me laugh out loud!!
  • @jeffreyzain
I could recognise the French accent from far away. Bravo! Une belle famille et une jolie maison ♥️
