I feel that Summoning (and to a lesser degree Dissection) has such a unique style that some bands try to replicate but can never really manage to do so Great video though, I didn’t know a lot of the background behind Summoning
  • Summoning is also my favorite Black Metal Band. They are just awesome, have no bad records and are completely unique. Love your videos :)

I read somewhere that: art critics should only critique art that they like and enjoy. I think this is your best vid so far. As for the band, is unique. Summoning got a unique expression, uncomparable. Original

Why Wyattxhim is my favorite youtuber
  • This video couldn't be more perfectly timed. Just acquired Minas Morgul and Oath Bound during the week. The former in particular absolutely blew me away. Now to give the rest of their discography due attention and gorge on the epicness they exude. Can't believe they bypassed me for so long. Geat video.

The first time he mentions Minas Morgul and that's the first time in the video he smiles. We got a moment at 6.53
  • Summoning is my favorite black metal band also and became familiar with them in 2004, I love your content keep it up man

For the most, you did a really good job going through the history/discography. Adding some insight and perspective along the way. Very kewl. However, I feel you left some tidbits out that are worth mentioning... ~Summoning do not consider themselves a band but label themselves "composers". ~Summoning occasionally utilizes guests. Most notable, Protector's girlfriend who lends a voice on 3 different albums. 1 track she is speaking in Elvish. ~Summoning was the first to use a song with the language of the orc. ~Summoning almost split up during the making of "With Doom We Come". (Nice play on words as the title track is about Sauron coming to Middle Earth) ~Old Mornings Dawn was the first song that both members singing together. (I think...)
  • Summoning is my favorite band period! I got into them in 2006 when I saw an ad for Oath Bound in an issue of Metal Maniacs magazine (that’s a blast from the past!). I’ve been hooked ever since! As a huge Tolkien fan this band hit the sweet spot for me, a perfect union of music and literature.

dol guldur is definitely the hardest album to access fully. Its reminiscent of rpg soundtracks when venturing through large landscapes and obstacles and a journey in itself. Ironically it's was Under Old Hills that was one of the eareliest points of access to Summoning it's fade out is trippy af.

Honestly the reason Summoning is my favorite black metal band, is the fact that their albums are like ice cream sundaes: they're layered and all the components work together, and yet you can still taste all the distinct flavors each component brings.

I found Summoning after With Doom We Come was released. I kept seeing people get excited about this band that I had never heard of releasing a new album so I stayed up really late one night and went down a rabbit hole with their music. It was a winter night and I was in my bed reading some epic fantasy book while listening to a bunch of this band that I had never heard of until now and I immediately fell in love. I started trying to learn everything I could about them which is how I found your YouTube channel. Thanks for the content!!
  • @WMfin
Youtube recommended some random video by you, skipped it, went to see what other videos you have and searched "Summoning". Was NOT disappointed! Well put together and hail Summoning!

You were the one who introduced me to Summoning. They are becoming one of my favorite black metal bands as well. I just picked up a copy of Minas Morgul (for a stupid high price, I’m embarrassed to admit). But yeah, thanks for the music recommendations man! I’ve discovered a number of cool bands from you
  • @IOxyrinchus
Great video, very insightful and informative. I’m still getting into Summoning so this really helped develop my appreciation for their craft, thanks
  • Hail Summoning! My favorite album: Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. I adore also Caladan Brood.

I was just recommending this band to two of my friends yesterday, and now I wake up to a video about them
