  • My husband is a legionaire veteran and he is one of a kind of man. What he was taught in the legion he still has the legion in his heart and his daily life. His personality is like of a legionaire. He Is the most decorated soldier in our country so I am really proud of him.

When I went through infantry school at Benning in 2005, we had a former foreign legion LT. He was one of the best in our cycle. He left a great impression on everyone, including the base commander. I still remember him 19 years later.

My colleague got the French nationality serving in the Foreign Legion: He is tough. Surprised? He also is a dedicated professional with zero tolerance for bullshit. I am proud to be his associate.

I trained with the FFL twice... Jungle Warfare in 1986 as a young US Marine Reconnaissance Marine in 1986 then again at Camp de Canjeurs FR in 1988... toughest SOBs on the planet! I gave serious consideration to joining the FFL in 1993 after my active duty in the Corps... Semper Fi!
  • Yes the Legion is for those who are adventurous. But the Legion has always been, and always will be, a force for good!

I was a paratrooper in the US Army. Way to old to do this kind of stuff anymore but man this video makes me wish I was young again for a different challenge and could to France. Still proud of my EIB and CIB though

The best documentary about the elite combat force French Foreign Legion. Highly respected all over the world.
  • @jimmytwohats2538
They mentioned Den Bien Phu once in the entire documentary. Yet probably the most important battle the Legion fought. They lost, but this engagement personifies the Legionaire spirit.

I used to golf with a retired Legionnaire in Thailand. He didn't weigh more than 125 lbs and was about 5'-4". Not an ounce of fat on him.
  • I've heard about the 'French Foreign Legion' since I was a little girl usually it would be in reference to when a man got his heart broken ( in a story line of some sort) however for many years I just never knew that they were 'REAL' until I was an adult. This story I'm watching is awesome!

Worked with them while I was in the US Army in Bosnia. Superhuman is the first word that comes to mind.

During the Battle of Narvik in Norway in 1940, the 13th Half Brigade was part of the Foreign Legion as part of the French contribution to the Allied force deployed against the Germans. The half brigade was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Raoul Magrin-Vernerey, with Antoine Béthouart as commander-in-chief of the French forces. Several officers and legionaries were awarded the War Cross for their efforts, Norway's highest ranked award. In total, more than 2,000 foreign legionnaires fought in the battles at Narvik.

When was 16 I worked with 2 ex Legionaires at a bakery one could hardly speak a word of English the other we called bluey was so nice but no one ever took them for granted a few stories were told during the crib break by bluey. The other never associated with anyone, except bluey.
