Damn, I didn't think he had it in him to do more gentle, intimate vocals
  • @ColmRMcGuinness
(*QUICK EDIT*: I was not expecting such a resounding positive reaction in the comments section. Thank you all for the kind words and personal stories shared! Stay handsome!) This mask would NOT stay on! What you going as for Halloween? GO!
  • @irrumnaaz
Oh man, this was amazing! You should find a Christine and do The Phantom of the Opera or The Point of No Return. That would be amazing 😍
  • @beachmom62
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and I'm not just saying that because you're my son in law! Fun fact: I was pregnant with your wife when we went to see Phantom of the Opera in Salt Lake City. Played this CD on repeat! Congratulations on, once again, outdoing yourself!
  • I know you've gotten famous from your bass range, but in my opinion your baritone range is definitely your strongest suit! You've got a truly amazing baritone voice!
  • @chelliespider
The swells, the vibrato, the emotions coloring your voice... Bravo, sir! This song, done well, always gives me chills, and yours is one of my favorite versions. I'm just gonna go add it to several playlista now, don't mind me!
  • Thank you Colm. This was one of my wife’s favorite pieces, sung by an artist that she loved. I thought I was done crying afterall it’s been 18 months since she passed… but no I’m currently weepin aver her loss all over again.

Lyrics for those who need them, (like me~): Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation Darkness stirs and wakes imagination Silently the senses abandon their defenses Slowly, gently, night unfurls it's splendor Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender Turn your face away from the garish light of day Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light And listen to the music of the night Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar And you'll live as you've never lived before Softly, deftly music shall caress you Hear it, feel it secretly possess you Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind In this darkness that you know you cannot fight The darkness of the music of the night Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before Let your soul take you where you long to be! Only then can you belong to me Floating, falling, sweet Intoxication Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation Let the dream begin, let the darker side give in To the power of the music that I write The power of the music of the night! You alone can make my song take flight Help me make the music of the night

Colm, I have to tell you I have been listening to this musical since I was about 5 years old, as my older sister was a massive Sarah Brightman fan at the time, so needless to say this musical has always had a special place in my heart. However, I was never able to understand how Christine could become so captivated, so enamored of The Phantom, just through his voice. You are the first man I’ve ever heard in 27 years whose voice made that connection. This is the first time where I’ve ever felt that, yes…this is the voice that Christine could fall in love with. Bravo sir, and well done. This was pure joy. Thank you.

On the one hand I’m really surprised by your musical range. This rendition wouldn’t out of place on the stage… on the other hand, I guess I’m endlessly unsurprised by your amazing musicality. beautiful as ever!
  • @RachelHardy
Not an easy song to sing, you killed it my friend! Honestly really cool hearing this sort of performance from you. 🥺
  • @user-tp1uw5ip3t
The Phantom of the Opera is a childhood favorite musical. and you gave me the opportunity to fall in love with this work again❤
  • @saltybird
I have two wolves inside. 1 blown away from the absolute masterpiece I just witnessed, and awed by the care and respect for the original music and left with goosebumps over the swelling orchestrational work driving the music. The 2nd wolf just can't stop staring at the mask XD
  • @kaelynshea5533
I have heard many many versions of this song but I cannot remember any version as fragile as yours, so beautiful, so haunting. The way you portray the phantom in his sadness and love towards Christine and music is just insanely beautiful. Thank you for this music of the night. I will go to Spotify right away and put it into my lists❤
  • @blurred-antics
Colm, the range that you have constantly astounds me. That vibrato? Those gorgeous high notes and baritone? The emotion? God, mate. This musical and song have been a favorite for me for over a decade, so I'm rather picky with covers, but your portrayal of the phantom —his longing and sadness— is so haunting and lovely.
  • @sub-zer0441
He always manages to pick the best songs!!! Phenomenal job Colm!!!!!
  • @Hope-Arising
Holy crap 😮 This is a different side of Colm. More musicals please. I'm still wondering how you got to the "soar" note. This is a masterpiece!!!
  • HOLY COW IS THIS EVEN THE SAME MAN!!???! Your voice is so beautiful and comforting 🤍
  • I was in the middle of another video when the notification came up. I didn't even hesitate to abandon it.
  • @Reverse2057
Well Colm, as a very choosy connoisseur of all things Phantom of the Opera and when it comes to covers I'm extremely picky, I have to say you did an excellent job of this one. Your more operatic vocals in a majority of the song really carried the weight of the song as it ought to be, and you nailed that final drawn out note quite nicely. Well done! Commendable job!
