You can't have Polynesia without #Samoa. This country is the OG Islander. Thanks to YOU guys the Samoan Geograpeeps for helping out and ESPECIALLY explaining the incredibly simple Fa'amatai system. Wow. What a complex legislation system!

Fun fact, the word tattoo came from the Samoan word tatau. But Europeans mispronounced it, which is why it is now known by the world as ‘tattoo’

As a Samoan, this makes me freaken proud! Awesome pronunciation and knowledge of our motherland 🇼🇸😊 cheeeehoooo Samoa mo Samoa ♥️ xx
  • Pro tip: If you're in Samoa the day before your birthday, go to American Samoa, and come back the day after. Boom, two birthdays!
  • "When will I get there?" "In just over 24 hours." "What? Um... well when will I return?" "Yesterday." 😳 Whooooa.

I’m samoan. I loved this, especially the effort taken in pronouncing some of those difficult samoan words. Well done 👍 🙌🏽
  • @chrisa2612
Yes Samoan formal language have this sort of Shakespearean vibe to it. They speak in quotes and parables.
  • @fitzmeister87
Who else thought The Rock was actually going to make a surprise appearance after all?
  • No guts, no glory, at least you tried to get 'The Rock' on the episode.

As a Samoan from both Samoas, I grew up in American Samoa but visited my family on Samoa. We hold our culture close and although the two fly different flags, we've always considered Samoa as one. We are a proud, God fearing people and often times can be found sharing what we have with those around us. This is the culture I grew up to know and continue to pass on to my child. Awesome video.

Fun fact: All of the wrestlers shown in the "Famous Samoan" section belong to the same family: the Anoa'i. Everyone is blood-related, except for Peter Maivia, who is considered brother by blood-oath of Rev. Amituana'i Anoa'i (the head of the family and not a wrestler), which means Maivia' family (including his grandson, The Rock) is an honorary branch of the Anoa'i. If you look at any Samoan wrestler, there's a big chance s/he belongs to the Anoa'i family! (btw, the third wrestler shown was Roman Reigns, not Mark Iupati's doppelgänger)
  • You missed the perfect opportunity to say "Tell me Samoa about it!"
  • well Dwayne The Rock Johnson just missed the opportunity of a life time to appear on Geography now. He will forever regret that decision
  • @DEONONFORTUNA87
Wow. This guy could sell ice to the freakin eskimos man. You marketed Samoa so well even though the video wasn't for that purpose. Malo lava kama palagi le fai mea mafai 🤘
  • @Honeyapplepear
My mom and I are both from Samoa, and living in the US. My mom is full blood Samoan while I’m what Samoans call, “Afakasi.” This segment was entertaining for my mom while super educational for me. The time “difference” between Samoa and American Samoa is wild 😂 Thank you!
  • @marcelo1458
I took a DNA test and I'm 1.5% Samoan. I proceeded to file for a 1.5 acre land lease in Samoa. I think that's pretty reasonable.
  • @FireHax0rd
Samoan Citizen in 2011: oh boy, I can't wait to celebrate my birthday this year on Dec 30th! Samoa: :)
  • Fun fact: They called it samoa because it is in the middle of NZ and Hawaii, if your samoan, you will understand that sa means sacred and moa (apart from chicken) means center put it together then you got "sacred center"
