Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

FAQ:
Q. What are those non-nicknamed Pokemon in your party for, do they count towards the total?
A. They're HM users, nothing more. No, they don't count towards the total since they're never used in battle. Except Espeon and Umbreon, I still have yet to look up if Colosseum has a name rater lolol
Q. If you catch a Pokemon, doesn't it count as used?
A. Nope! They're only "used" if they get put into battle and use an attack. This is to avoid things like non-usable Pokemon sitting in the party and getting gusted out via Whirlwind or Roar.
Q. What are the 39 games involved in this series?
A. Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Colosseum, FireRed, LeafGreen Emerald, XD, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, Black 2, White, White 2, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Ultra Sun, Moon, Ultra Moon, Let's Go Eevee, Let's Go Pikachu, Sword, Shield, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Legends Arceus, Scarlet, and Violet.
Q. What about games like FR/LG where you get a starter that you've already used, do you fail the challenge?
A. No, since the nuzlocke doesn't start until I receive Pokeballs, I simply go out and capture an unused Pokemon at full HP and continue after boxing the starter.
Q. Are you choosing your encounters?
A. Occasionally. I have a document where I've laid out encounters for the entire franchise. But isn't that against the spirit of a nuzlocke? I don't think so, I think the battles are the main challenge, after all, I can just reset the run to get the right first encounter, but that would make producing these videos a lot slower and less enjoyable.

the reason the move choices seem so weird throughout diamond and pearl is that in diamond and pearl, none of the trainers have any complex directors, it's just a 25% chance for each of the 4 moves with an override to heal this is fixed in platinum, however, meaning the important trainers actually have good ai

Not leaving Buizel for your platinum run really hurt the Fantina battle. It gets to evolve right at the level cap and learns crunch. it makes that fight trivial.

the mismagius love and hype is really making this video just that much better, she’s always overlooked even though she has pretty good stats, a wicked ability, and just has a bunch of fun move sets to play with. Fav pokémon ever

Misdreavus is actually available in Cliff Cave that connects to the new Safari Zone in HGSS, which makes it one of only 2 Pokemon available earlier in the remakes than they were in the originals. Dusk Stone can be gotten at the Pokeathelon, though it does require a large amount of points

Regarding Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, I believe that just because a game is easily moddable does not equate to it being a good game. Also, I don't think anyone had their hopes too high, especially when comparing the Sinnoh remakes to the other remakes. HGSS are Gold and Silver remakes, but they have Crystal content (plus so many other new things). Then ORAS has Mega Evolution (and 2 new stories being the Contest story and Delta Episode). So Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl not having Platinum content or Dynamaxing or even character redesigns makes it fall flat when compared with its predecessors.
