Santa Clara Vanguard at PASIC 2019

Published 2019-12-02
The 4 in-a-row DCI High Percussion recipients, The Santa Clara Vanguard, presented a clinic this November at PASIC 2019. During the clinic, Dynasty artist Paul Rennick discusses the excellence and musicianship he looks for and develops during the season. See the performers bring back some of our favorite memories from their 2019 production "Vox Eversio".

  • Its unfathomable how clean these guys are and months after 2019 season ended. Thats why they are 4 times DCI BEST Percussion. INSANE!!! These guys/gals are so tight, its hard to put a piece of paper between them. :) Bravo.
  • Look at 4:55 the snare line (just visible on the right of the screen) sign language "SCV"!! I just spotted it after watching this video many, many times. It is so cool!

That the quality of play and musicianship can continue 3 months outside of season, with only hours to warm up and rehearse show chunks is insane. Just getting the entire line to logistically return is an accomplishment. Another wow moment.

Bryce growing hair cuts his age in half.
  • I performed in this same room right before them. I got to stay for their clinic and it was amazing to see them in person. Video doesn’t do any of this justice. So clean!!

Excellent job to these performers. The arrangements are terrific, and the execution is the best!
  • Almost a year later and this is still the last time a DCI line performed their show, these are crazy times
