One of the best albums of the 2000s. My favorite has always been “In the Backseat.” It’s so emotionally wrecking and cathartic, I love it.

I swear, Wake Up just rips my heart out everytime. What a song

Legendary album and one of my favorites. This album's themes hit really hard the older you get. It's about growing up and taking that scary leap from childhood to adulthood.
  • Their second album, Neon Bible, is also fantastic and worth a listen!

I saw these folks the day their Suburbs album came out. It was certainly in my top 5 concerts of all time. They were incredible live.

One of the most legendary album openers imo. Tunnels is the best.
  • incredible album—I agree with the suggestions to listen to the suburbs and the suggestion to listen to mid-air thief’s “crumbling”. Would sprint to that reaction

No because I clearly remember the day I first listened to this album…when CD’s were still a thing… I sat in my room with my headphone on & just sat there in awe with the songwriting 😩 I still get emotional whenever I hear their earlier stuff

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see you reacting to and enjoying this album. Arcade Fire is of my favourite bands of all time. I’ve seen them in concert twice so far and each time made me love them just that much more. You definitely need to see them live if you have a chance. I’d love to see you react to Neon Bible and the Suburbs next. And I do think you should do a deep dive with some of their lyrics - they hit different when you realize the Butler brothers were raised Mormon 😬 lots of themes of religious and family trauma for sure.
  • The beautiful arranged strings are done by their non-permanent band member Owen Pallett, who is also an excellent Canadian artist. I can highly recommend his album Heartland (2010).
  • And my friend, the feeling of the first time you see that band live. I still have shivers.
  • I think the earlier tracks will grow on you like you said. For me Laika and Power out are highlights, even if Tunnels cant be beat. Just a ridiculous tracklist front to back and has been one of my biggest songwriting influences. Check out Neon Bible/The Suburbs as well!

This album is a masterpiece from start to finish
  • Great reaction! Like you, the brilliant switch ups on this album really sold it for me and over the years it has become an all time classic. I really wish I was aware of them when they first arrived. From what I've learned, Funeral was a seismic shift in indie music.
  • It's really nice to see you open yourself to other genres - have fun exploring :)

It’s interesting how you seemed to appreciate the songs that I tend to pass over, and pass over the songs that I love. The first time I heard Power Out I was stunned. Wake Up still gives me chills every time. But you’ve given me an appreciation for some of the other tracks.

I have recently been returning to Arcade Fire as someone who was very, very into them back in 2005 (as a 15 year old) and watching you experience Funeral for the first time has really added extra ignition to my already pretty roaring love for that album. Honestly it feels like you immediately understood every musical theme and lyrical theme and put them together on a first listen and it was really endearing and enjoyable to watch. I don't think Funeral is some kind of eternal classic, but it is one of my favourite albums of all time. Mostly because of the emotional effects it has on me vocally and lyrically. You fully embraced every aspect of that while also commenting on the musical details...all the while showing a pure enthusiasm for music in general. Very easily one of my new favourite YouTube channels. Happy New Year also!
