Wordle, Connections, Mini Crossword & Strands - May 21

For your second guess when you were talking about putting in vowels but not being able to - TECHNICALLY the letters for VOWEL were all free to use 😉

in connections i got the book category right away and then managed to fail the rest completely

"Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou is a poem about confidence in the face of societal and historical oppression - it's one of my favourites and there's a great reading from the poet herself right on youtube :)

Latin and poems… yeah, I was not getting the mini crossword today.

This strands was incredibly unfortunate for me, I got "window" first and then I saw "stools" (when it was actually tools) and thought it might be a literal title for once, and then when it didn't work I was too completely thrown off the right direction to finish in good progress!

Until I watched you play (right before you said it), I didn't understand how the Strands words connected to the hint. A literal light bulb went off as you were playing. Glad I watched.

It seems sui generis means " of its own kind " ie unique. Don't think we did that in my two years of Latin but it was only about 4 periods ( each one 40 minutes) a week and I was13.

key thing is its a strong inclination.

LOL (in a good way) at adieu. Only got yellow/green for connections. Strands i found easy after i got window and realised what the subject was.

It also took me finding 5 words to understand the theme. I think I even found the same 5 as you.

I also got the Wordle today in 4, but I feel like I could have gotten it in less; Gnawn (randomly generated) - Sting - Groin - Dingo. I got the worst combination of words found first in Strands so I did a lot worse than usual, I think I found file, help and windows and then was stumped on how those linked together.

Nice on wordle! I would not have geussed Dingo with the information you had available. I didnt even geuss dingo when it was the "only possible solution left". It didnt seem like a real word to me. Haha. ⬛⬛🟨⬛⬛ Faith ⬛🟩🟩🟨⬛ Windy 🟩🟩🟩⬛⬛ Diner 🟩🟩🟩🟨⬛ Dinos 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Dingo Good job on connections! This one had a bunch of red herrings (such as: steal, pinch, pocket) and you didn't fall for any of them! I got there myself, but I spent a long time trying to puzzle out the real categories from the tricks. Great job puzzling out the mini too. Some of those clues were super tough. I am a huge fan of poetry but the idea "famous" poems is silly to me. Because the number of poetry affectionados is so small, thats like saying, I was famous at my high scool. Being well known among a small group of people doesn't actually make you well known to most people. So despite having a book of all Maya Angelou's poems I didnt know that one off the top of my head. I figured it out similarly to you, just slightly faster because I have heard of it. Anyway, I think the mini was the hardest of the games today. I only got strands today because this has been a category in connections before. I still didn't get the spangram until the end anyway. I had a hard time thinking up the word "menu" for some reason. Even when it was staring right in front of me. Lol. I am so sleep deprived today. It made me struggle a bit more than I should have I think. Anyway, thanks again for a great video Kenny!
