  • I can't recommend the ProbeMaster SMD kit enough. Beautiful probes with a range of removable gold tips. They don't break, especially because most of them auto-retract if you push to hard (yet are still very fine). They also 'grip' the small components, so you're not slipping all over the place. They're just beautiful, and not ridiculously expensive at all. I've also heard great things about Pomona.

I was drill a 0.8mm hole to the end of the broken tips, and soldered a sewing needle into it. Works perfectly.
  • Could we get a tour video of your work / lab area? It would be great to (at least briefly) go over the different tools you use and what you've modified or made. Maybe with links to the commercially available stuff? Enjoying watching your videos, thank you for sharing!

My probe recommendation: Pomona 627x/634x or something in this range. The silky soft high flexible silicon cables and the wide range of probe tips is one of the beste on market.

I also have the Bionso set of probes. They've served my humble needs for 3 years so far.

Nothing beat sewing machine needles tinned with low temp melt solder to the probe. I also use a lighter (fire) to bend the needles without break.

The best I need to look at my order, the : ANENG PT1028 1000V 22 In 1 or Cleqee P1505B Silicone Multimeter Test Leads. Best regards ☺️

When my probe tip broke I soldered a office pin to the broken part and since the plastic was a bit loose from the heat I added a drop of superglue in there to make it more stable. It works just as good now.
  • I made my very fine probe tip from 0.5mm hard silver wire, jewelry use them, after that I file the tip on 3 face, narrow angle, works unbelievable. soldered to a bullet plug which fit my Fluke probe.

Hi Tony, I have used couple of variances of probes, but so far Probe Master 8043SK works perfectly for almost 2 years now..
  • @ecurepair
I use the same ones (at the end of video). I use the shield with the small leads, they will still bend but usually it stops them from breaking.
  • @marstedt
I haven't watched yet but THANK YOU for doing this!

Thank you for sharing this good knowledge
  • @intoxicode
I've been trying to figure this out lately too was going to go with those fluke attachments, and probe kits
  • @flolic
If you don't need replaceable tips or various accessories, Pomona 5953A is the way to go. Tips are extendable, insulated and very sharp, made of stainless steel. Leads are thin and very soft, with high temperature silicone insulation. Best test leads that I ever owned.
