  • We hear this kind of abusive behavior more and more often frightening, disappointing , wrong on every level.

What’s wrong with people? Duct tape? I work as a Paraeducator in a Resource classroom at an elementary school. Yes, sometimes the kids do much more talking than working. And, yes, it is annoying. Does not meritt duct tape.
  • Not enough help can give too many kids to one person to teach .. school needs to be honest about the child/teacher ratio I am betting ! Kids should not have to fear aide or teacher behavior . Respect is important but abuse is wrong .

I've worked at several daycares. No-one in this world will take care of your child like you will. No-one. That doesn't mean this woman's actions are justified.

If this was a game, then it would have involved all the children and all the children would have been duct taped. The fact that only a few were said they were personally singled out.

Understandable for this mother expressing concerned. Her daughter probably was very talkative and it got on the aide’s nerves. However, when I was in kindergarten and first grade the teacher used to put masking tape on the child’s mouth to remind them to be quiet.
  • And the aide is still walking around and not unconscious…in a hospital

Where was the TEACHER when the children were duct taped by the parapro?
  • And that would have been the day I would have went straight to jail no questions asked

If teachers and staff cannot deal with students appropriately then do the smart thing instead of getting yourselves in trouble have somebody come pick the child up for the rest of the day if it doesn't know how to act put the student and then school suspension for the whole day you have students that are really disruptive engaging in non learning activities then remove them permanently you're scared for your Safety and Security of others this one student maybe have mommy or daddy come and discipline child when child is out of hand inside the classroom

That's incredibly dangerous. I'm an EMT and I used to be a teacher working with children. You cannot put anything over their mouth or their nasal passages whatsoever. And EMS we learn children crash fast when there's a medical emergency. That's why when you see footage of of a kid having a medical emergency, that's why they're so frantic to get them to the hospital because they crash fast and hard. Covering their mouth can cause serious respiratory issues. An EMS that is a frequent call that we get with.many children and infants. Is that they are having some kind of respiratory issue related to illness, something that was smothering their face or covering their mouth or choking.
  • Someone needs to Approach CPS aide assess for risk of suicide or harm . Listen nonjudgmentally. Give reassurance and information. Encourage appropriate professional help . Encourage self-help and other support strategies. Don't abuse the children !
