CANADA GUYS:
Just a heads up the 3M PR40 can be hard to find/expensive in Canada. I'm told thes glue works great as well through a commenters who are in Canada. amzn.to/3wvXOFM JB super weld and amzn.to/3Lb4cYo Satellite City Hot Stuff Special T CA Glue. Any of the 3M PR series glues work just fine and one maybe easier/cheaper to come by(pr40, pr100, pr600, pr1500). The only difference in those glues is the thickness. So with the PR1500 it's more gel like vs water so you will need to make sure to squeeze out the excess.
*********

Thoughts:
I think I like the slightly thicker glues vs the thinnest. On the data sheet the thinner PR40 is the strongest but I think only if you can clamp it. The thicker glues pr600-pr1500 fill in gaps much better and spots that may not have touched on the pr40 are now bonded. So the thicker may actually be stronger in real world applications. You do not have any working time with this stuff(thicker glues have longer working time(seconds). You need to apply it, stick it, hold pressure and be done. Anytime you move, lift a corner etc it sets up and will not bond. You need to simply re-sand the area and piece and try again.

Wow, I was skeptical. Would be interested to try re-soling a boot with that stuff.

Wow this brings back some fond memories. Tampa Cord Rubber Safety Products - Back in the 1950's my father invented a door mat made from cord rubber car tires. They would last a lifetime and easily removed the sandy soil from your shoes prior to entering your home. He had a custom machine made to cut the wire beads out of the tires and another custom machine to cut both sidewalls and the tread area into one continous piece. He also had a old Rockwell drill press that had a custom made fixture that held 6 drill heads that were chain driven. He used leather hole stamping punches in the drill heads to drill the holes in the cord rubber strips in a given pattern. Once the holes were drilled he could cut the ends to size depending on the size of door mat we were making. He even made some horse trailer mats which would also last a lifetime. He also made the first dock bumpers that you see today that are made from truck tires. On some tires he would buff the tread off which made rubber dust. He would wire the two opossing tire beads together and mix concrete and rubber dust together to make steeping stones. Basically, my father was BIG into recycling. If he were alive today he would have been a HERO for making a GREEN planet. Taking some of the hardest items to recycle and making really usefull products from them. One time he even made me a pair of soles for my shoes from the tread section of the tires. Of course, others copied his idea and made sandels from them. Thanks again for the memories!!!
  • This could be used to repair tires in many ways. Definetly a life saver in these times of shortages. Thanks
  • @Brooklyn-bn5go
Thanks I bought a bottle of PR100 after watching your last video about the adhesive, to repair an impossible to get weatherstrip. It works great, stays flexible and holds better than anything else I tried.

Same brand as your scissors, but a good sharpened pair of vintage forged (#9, A-10, or 12") Wiss tin snips works really well for thick rubber and leather. I keep a pair tuned up just for jobs like that.

nice CVT there ....and nice dog!
  • @Water2Spicy
There were a few impressive things in this video. The resourcefulness that you poses when it comes to getting your money's worth out of something. I never would have thought to repurpose old tires for this. The glue was very impressive in it's strength and it's price to performance. Even the dog was impressive in how well he rode with you and followed you 😂

A tire this small their cheap enough I would just buy a new one but this is for science! Lol thanks for another great video
  • Another Great Video!! You do excellent research!! Love your attitude to get all the use out of items that you can!! Great skill set that you have! Liked !!
  • @not2fast4u2c
Next Project make some punches like for leather so you can stamp out diamond shapes etc....
  • @AtimatikArmy
I bought this stuff IMMEDIATELY after your last side wall video. This stuff is pretty amazing. 3M should totally sponsor you BTW!! Great video, I could have saved so many off road tires over the years!!
  • @slicedbread9003
Brilliant!!! DIY retreads. The body of the tire is good. It is only the rubber that has worn away. And you show us how to do it. Good job!
  • @sekovittol3124
I posed this question to some guys at work about re-gluing tread to a mini-bike tire. Thanks for this!
  • @knowntalker135
I love the milwaukee right angle grinder, people complain about the power and the batteries not lasting long but not having a cord is so nice
  • I finally got around to ordering a bottle through the link in the description. Thanks!
  • @Stroke2Handed
That's a great idea! I just bought new tires for my Baja mini bike, but I kept the old ones. Might have to try this. 👍
  • Man took the tire wall off a continental procontact, talk about budget tread. Lol love the content

More, I’ve had great success cutting sidewall rubber to make 65Ford bungee straps with an oscillating multi tool.
