Mike’s Tips & Tricks Fluke VT04 Visual IR Thermometer hot water pipes plumbing behind wall

This really is a Life Hack. Drilling into a hot water pipe by mistake would be- bad. We used the Fluke VT04 at one of our job sites before beginning a project to check for hidden stuff. 6 months later the HVAC guy was installing a split unit wall mount and we reviewed the images I shot with this IR thermometer. He was about to drill into the drywall where the 2nd floor baseboard PEX pipes were. This Fluke VT04 saved a watery mess. Sorry for the small portrait small video- My first using i-Movie.

About 3 months after I ‘shot’ this house, an A/C installer was installing split units. I showed him the images I took and he slowly drilled his access holes. Exactly on the mark were a pair of PEX tubes which were unharmed because he knew they were there. This Fluke Thermal imager saved a water cleanup.
