"Stand sideways to appear slimmer" Yeah that doesn't work in the USA
  • This happened to me just a day after my 19th birthday when I was going for a morning walk . There were 3 dogs and they were attacking a little girl who was about 6-7 years old and was riding a bicycle.I ran and grabbed their attention by kicking them and then I lifted the girl up . They left the girl and started attacking me . Two of them were biting both my legs and one of them was holding my left arm . I left the girl and was continuously moving my limbs with force so that they couldn’t get a proper hold of me . Then suddenly I punched one of them on the head and he was knocked out . The other two ran away as I gave them some smashes too . I got 6 stitches on my right leg and 3 on the left knee . I wonder they would have killed that 7 years old girl if I was not present there at that moment .
  • I work as a delivery driver. The amount of dog owners who think it’s okay for their dog to roam free while I’m expected to leave food on their door step is appalling.

I agree with "not showing you're scared". I've had tons of encounter with mad dogs who seems threatened by me, but i just walk normally. Some even run fast towards me, but was just sniffing my slippers/foot. Dont show youer threatened, but be ready to fight with all your killer energy when it bites you.

For all those people telling their successful stories of running at the dog and making growling noises...I would like to share my own experience. I'm 110 lbs and the German shepherd that was charging at me continued to charge at me. I was pinned down and luckily other people came to help just in time. So no, it doesn't always work... probably easier if you're big.

Once I had been chased by 8-9 dogs for no reason when I was jogging, I screamed at those dogs and started to run towards them like gorrila charge they all told "sorry pal "and started running in other direction.

After fighting off 5 dogs once, I carry a knife on me whenever I’m out walking and would have no problem eviscerating any dog that attempts an attack..I would also go for their eyes as well. I’ve heard that using your keys to gouge out the eyes will make a dog release its bite if it has locked on to you and at that point definitely do not let them shake their heads. .

  • Me and my two year old were attacked by a dog last year while playing in a park. He didn’t look vicious at first and had a collar on so I figured he got out of the yard and just wanted to play. I picked up my son and stayed calm while the dog kept barking then started snarling like it was angry. That’s when I got worried. Since I had nothing to throw and was holding my baby, I remained indifferent to the dog and started scoping out the area for the owner but there was nobody around. I slowly started walking away from it and that’s when it decided to latch onto my ankle. I’m only 5ft tall and with my kid I knew I couldn’t fight it off so I screamed and screamed then fell when the dog latched and thrashed. I thought it wanted to eat my son so I tucked him under me and curled myself in a ball the best I could around him and held my hands over the back of my neck. Literally knees to elbows fetal position over my son. Trying to kick the dog wasn’t working so I hunkered down. The dog finally let go of my leg and I thought my tactic worked but then started going for my head. I didn’t see what happened but I heard a lot of shouting over my son screaming and crying and some thuds and popping sounds and then it all stopped. The dog bit through my boot where I still have scars and some scarring on my scalp where hair doesn’t grow anymore my my son was unharmed. Thankfully someone heard me and helped or else idk what would have happened. I suspect the worst. A few people whose houses backed up to the park, which I learned after, started beating it and once they got it off me and it started going after others another man shot it. (They were a licensed carrier btw). This is Texas after all. What infuriated me the most was that the dog owner tried to sue the guy who shot the dog that attacked me 🤦‍♀️ overall, a terrible and horrific experience and please stand up for those who take action. I don’t think I or my baby would still be here if it wasn’t for these people who helped. Especially the man that ended that dog.
  • My friends dog who id never met got my hand and started shaking it’s head with his jaw locked. I didn’t move and didn’t try to break lose. I said NO. He immediately let go. I just stood there next to him and he ended up walking away. Idk why I did any of those things in the moment, it was so painful I was kind of in shock but it worked in my favor thankfully

My dog wouldn’t stop chasing people on bikes, so I took the bike off him
  • If we wanna run faster than a dog, run like the dog Modern problems need modern solutions
