This is heartbreaking. I am 77 years old, grew up on a Illinois farm and the only time in my life I have not had a cat with me was when I was in the Marines in '63 to '66. A cat was the first thing in life I remember and will be the last thing I see when I blink out. I can't imagine living life without a cat.

In the 70ies, we rescued kittens and for the most part kept them on our farm. But one family came to us in search of a kitten and we gave them a friendly little black one. For free, of course. They brought him back after a few weeks and said they didn't want him any more. Their little children chased him and annoyed him for hours every day, mistreated him and thought he was a toy. He was skinny, afraid and had digestive problems (because they did not let him eat in peace). It took us months to gain his trust again and pamper him back to health. We were so distraught because we gave him to those people. I tear up after all these years when I think of the day we saw him again. We were responsible for the miserable life he had there. We never again gave a kitten away after this.

RIP Diesel and you will be reunited with the ones who really cared and loved you over the rainbow 🙏

Now he is walking over the rainbow bridge. 🌈 We will see him one day soon 😢😢

I had already written my comment. It''s a very sad story and it has greatly upset me. Great care must be taken when giving a kitten up for adoption. Poor unlucky Diesel! Distressing!

Mon cœur est brisé moi aussi, car j’adore les chats j’ai une fondation depuis plus de 30 ans et à chaque fois que leurs vie prend fin je braye à ne plus finir et je ne l’est abandonne jamais peu importe le coût chez le vétérinaire. Mais condoléance mes amis❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This made me sad and upset. A cat friend is not a thing or vehicle to get awards; he or she is your child and companion. You tend to their needs first, your own afterwards. He should have grown old in a warm, loving home with no cares other than playing and cuddling. So sad…
