There were some really awesome questions on my recent video about freelancing so I thought I would answer some of them here. Massive thanks to Harrison for including his thoughts and knowledge to this video. Definitely go check out his channel, he's easily one of the best cinematographers I know.
Thanks!
Dustin

Couple of things: Honeybook is worth it if you’re sending a lot of contracts/ invoices and take deposits. (I don’t show up unless there’s a deposit so it handles multiple payments really well). It does everything automatically so you don’t have to worry about it and for me, it’s worth the little money they take. (Plus, credit card processing fees are tax deductible.) It’s also client friendly and that’s truly priceless when paying invoices, especially when they setup automatic payments 😉. As far as going freelance or being a production company, clients are willing to pay more if there’s a company name in front of it. It’s okay to act freelance with a business name. I’ve had success with both but have noticed that companies like to work with other companies.

You both got me wanting to start my own production company, today! Tell Aaron to make room for one more.

I recently just got into video. I'm currently just focused on building a portfolio. I'm not sure what I like yet, though. Is my intuition correct? Should I keep doing cheap/free stuff until I find my niche? What could I be missing?
