Gogeta ss4 loses a beam struggle to a saibamen must be the most disrepectful lost gogeta has faced so far
  • @PlayerPro119
All dbz game should have beam struggles. Its juz not dbz without it

20 years later, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 still has the best beam struggle.

Quite suprising how litreally less than half of all major DBZ games don't have a legitimate beam struggle mechanic. I still think, 17 years later - Budokai 3 still looks the best (beam struggles). Was so satisfying to win. But BT3 had the best mechanic - where you could put more energy into it. I always thought it would be cool if you could transform during a beam struggle. Like say you were ssj but losing you could go ssj2

Who else used to play two players and not end their fights until you had a beam struggle?
  • @PootisPlayer
BT3 beam struggles were amazing. no other game has been able to recreate and make me relive my childhood memories in such a way. i still so vividly remember the look on my brothers face when he saw me input a kamehameha, ready to spin the everloving damn out of his analog stick and the moment they HIT, we started pushing eachother’s arms around, still spinning the stick, so one of us would slip up and get blasted away. truly a dbz game unlike any other.
  • With Tenkaichi 4 coming out I hope they introduce a more competitive beam struggle mechanic. Would be dope to see in tournaments!

BT3 is the best to me. Unlike a lot of other DB games, you could do beam struggles not just with supers and ultimates, but with a super against an ultimate. It also just looked the best to me.
  • Clashing Death Beams is nothing short of miraculous. Imagine the accuracy needed to do that.
  • The fact that u could do beam struggle with things like supernova, spirit bomb, etc… is one of the reasons bt3 is forever GOATED
  • Budokai Tenkiachi 3 was probably the most enjoyable DBZ fighting game I ever played, the character list and fighting mechanics were really good for that generation. Even though some DBZ games since then have adopted similar mechanics, they just never hit the same. To be real, nothing apart from the aesthetics have changed when it came to beam battles and that is really the biggest disappointment.

Crazy how Raging Blast still looks good like it wasn't made over 10 years ago.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I wish Dragon Ball Z Kakarot had a local fight option, it has such an aggressive and fluid fighting style and I personally enjoyed it a lot, not to mention it brought back a lot of what fans (like me) enjoy, beam struggles, good animation, character interactions during fights, it's all in there. But they lack so much replayability.
  • My favorite thing about the BT1 & BT2 Beam Struggle mechanics was that you could press the ki charge button to drain yourself and power up your blast. It added a risk/reward element to it that I'm surprised other DBZ games haven't tried to copy.
