Since he doesn't give stats on it: The Airtrain uses customized versions of the off the shelf Bombardier Innovia Metro 200 series cars. As such, the line uses Liner Induction motors. The price is a little high, but it was only just increased in 2019. from $5 it had been since the system opened on December 17th 2003, the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brother's first flight. Note that the price has since gone up again, but only 25 cents to $8. The system is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which, due to it's unique nature as being operated as an interstate agency, does not have access to tax dollars the same way that an entity such as, say, the MTA does.
  • Glad you covered this trip from Moynihan Train Hall to the Airport. Now I know what to do to get to the Airport from Amtrak.
  • Lucid. Engaging. Vivid illustrations, photographs. VERY helpful! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing - have been waiting for this ever since you gave us a teaser of the train hall a month or two back. I’m really struck by the architecture of this building and how it’s a beautiful combination of the old/classic and new. I recall seeing this building from outside about four years ago and I was amazed at the size of it. Thanks again for another great video and review.

Been waiting a long time for this one, visited the Moynihan last summer and it was incredible! Great work once again.

thanks for this video, i have a question, why you selected Forrest Hills as a destination instead of Jamaica Station?
  • Might need to fly from JFK in June. I'm gonna use this video as a reference for my Port Authority Bus Terminal-JFK leg of the trip

I just love the Moynihan Train Hall, it's unreal how beautiful and impressive it is. The giant steel girders anchoring the space with all of its natural light put the dingy Penn Station to shame. No longer does one need to scurry into the city like a rat

I hope you reported the glitches in electronic information points. Amtrak is good about not fixing things. Interesting how the U. S. deals with homeless problem: No seats for visitors and paying passengers sprawled out over the floor looking like homeless people!

Thanks for the video! I just didn't get why did you get a ticket to Forest Hills but arrived at Jamaica?
