If a man raised through the great depression is scared for the future, we should be twice as horrified.

R.I.P Carl Dekle. He died 2 months after his 100th birthday. (1922-2022)

That was absolutely brutal. He never should’ve had to see the destruction of the country he fought for.
  • “That’s not what our boys died for” was deeply upsetting to hear
  • When a 100-year-old Marine breaks down into tears and says that the land young men and boys died for is gone, you know your country has severely lost its way.

I´m Spanish and I'm not sure why YouTube recommended this to me, but I am deeply moved by this video. Young people like me don't really appreciate what we have as we have grown in already prosperous developed countries with more or less mature democracies. We take a lot of things for granted. We forgot that all we got is thanks to the blood and sweat of the great people that preceded us. We should be more humble, and grateful, and take great care of the legacy of people like this man. RIP Carl Dekle. Blessings for you all.

Nothing must hurt more than realizing the hell you and your buddies bled through was all playing into the hands of people who hate you.

Imagine having to witness your friends die in front of your eyes fighting for your country just for it to turn out like the state America is in today. His words truly do mean something.

We sold out our people a long time ago. He was referring to a time when you can buy your own home, go to college, and raise a family with a regular paying job and not have to become a debt slave. The America he remembers was truly the American dream. Idk what we are living in now. Everyone at each other's throats, alot of folks are living paycheck to paycheck. We are all blaming each other

I just hate people being ungrateful of what they have today and disrespecting these kind of people

I worked as a nurse in a VA nursing home. One of my longtime patients would say things like this. He was over 90 years old, and this was almost 20 years ago. He was a retired WWII Marine. His mind was as sharp as a tack, but his body was slowly failing him. He would always call me "ma'am" and stand when I came into his room out of respect. When he became unable to stand up, he apologized. I think about him often... even after all these years.

You’re beautiful sir. You are a kind hearted man with life which was well lived. You served our country to the highest. Thank you so much for everything you fought for. God bless your soul my old friend.
  • @MetallGecko1
He seems like a true Soldier, he fought because he loved what was behind him and not because he hated what stood in front of him.

This man saying this confirms something we all know deep down but rarely like to admit for fear of being called "outdated" or "out of touch" - there is something terribly wrong with this country. And it wasn't that way too long ago...

I like this guy, and I have lots of respect for him. He's smart and wise. He reminds me of my grandfather. RIP, sir.

Bless his heart and may his soul rest in peace. 😢🌹
