Yanmar 3GM30 raw water pump

Published 2019-03-03
Took me a while to realise the large nut on the shaft is the opposite thread. Helped having a cheapo battery impact wrench to get it off but should have used a pice of wood or something soft to put in the slot on the shaft instead of a spanner, I made burs on the shaft that I've had to file off.

Thanks for the reminder about that left hand thread. Probably will get it done in half the time, with your kind help.

Although this take is rather clumsy ( picking the right tools, out, things happen outside camera scope ,dropping things ), it still helped me taking apart my waterpump , to find that the bearings had complety fallen apart and the shaft is a bit damaged. >> time for a new pump !

The impeller comes out easily using pliers.
