Misleading thumbnail. First Class doesn’t always equate to luxury. There are trains like Maharajas’ Express, and then there are trains like Rajdhani. The former is a luxury train while the latter is just a speedy (for Indian Standards) train that does offer first class cabins. You might want to check out the former before declaring a random train as ‘India’s most luxury train.’
  • I traveled this exact same route when I was very young, many years ago. This felt like a nostalgic trip even though so many things have changed. We had opted for 3 AC for that trip and shared our food with another family. Nowadays I would prefer to pay 3k more and opt for a flight but if I have the time I will try Indian Railways again.
  • A sleeper in the UK same distance, would cost over £350. The equivalent of 35,592 rupees.

i traveled for 6 months in India back in the 90s, all by train. Wow how things have changed

This is one of the best videos i've seen from Nonstop Eurotrip. Nice footage, great narration, well chosen music. The quality has gotten better and better. It would be nice to see something of the Mumbai suburban trains. I had a one day unlimited ticket about 15 years ago and it was something I still remember today.

Just another fact ; Tejas Trains( Overnight and Day Trains) and Vande Bharat Trains are the only two train services in Indian Railways, where the doors are automatically closed and cannot be opened while travelling.

The major turn off every foreign vlogger had on our trains is that they've to eat corn flakes/cereals with hot milk 😆 in breakfast. Milk and Cereal is relatively new to India. Kellogg's popularized it but never told that it should be eaten in cold milk. Many Indians including myself still eat it in warm/luke warm milk.
  • Welcome back to India! I hope you had a enjoyable ride on our latest generation Rajdhani express, The Tejas Rajdhani. And thanks for using the local terms for the food. BTW it's good to see that they didn't put G20 India sticker on your railway ticket. It's really a relief for my eyes.
  • I travelled 3rd Class unreserved in 1973. It was an experience. I soon learned to throw my bag through the window onto the overhead luggage rack. Travelling in the luggage racks was more comfortable than sitting on the crowded seats. Food I purchased from the carts at the stations. In the late '70s I went back to the sub-continent 1st class - a better way to travel.

@9:12 you see the electrical system is 110 V in a country where 220 is the standard domestic line voltage. It's a clever anti-theft deterrent. Light bulbs and other appliances can't be used outside the trains, and not worth it to buy a 220-110 converter.
  • I had travelled in Mumbai Central New Delhi Rajdhani Express twice back in 2016-17. That time it wasn't Tejas Rajdhani but just Rajdhani. But still pretty good and one of my favourite journeys.
  • Just for information, Indian railways fastest train can run with 200 km/h speed but due to tracks and density of trains, they are limited till 130 km/h. Fact is that government is improving it...

Thanks so much for this, I'd LOVE to do some travel around India. It really is a bargain for us in the west, although I totally appreciate it's very different for the majority of locals. Food looked good as well, great video, thanks again!
  • @akr....
India Most luxurious is MAHARAJA express. Super expensive tickets 😔
  • Thank you very much indeed for another nice video.I love these Indian reports. The sceneries, your comments and every thing is is super fine.India is definitly a country worth a visit...
  • @samtrak1204
The glossy clean platform at Mumbia Station is amazing. There is nothing like that in the USA. Most Amtrak platforms are gritty and dirty.
  • @harry3003
Next time you come here.....come in the monsoon!!...Take the mumbai goa train (Tejas for quicker ride or the slower Mandovi express famous for its food!!)...the scenery is superb from July to September....& don't forget the Dudhsagar waterfall viewed from train (madgaon to Londa train).....it's majestic. IN the monsoon, country all round it's just lush green...it's also lean season, so getting confirmed tickets even at eleventh hour is possible in most of the trains

Have travelled few times Delhi to Mumbai when i was working in Mumvai. Arrive Monday morning, shower in the train & head straight for office :).

As a kid I used to travel in this kind of train (older model) from Jammu Tawi (north most train station in India) to Bangalore (South India), it takes almost 3 nights. With breaks in New Delhi. I used to love looking at the landscapes all across India. One of most comfortable train with privacy for families.

I've travelled on the Rajdhani train from mumbai to Delhi in 2019 ... but these trains are now much upgraded and have newly built modern coaches
