Blitzkrieg, meaning ‘Lightning War’, was a method of offensive warfare responsible for Germany’s successes in World War II. Mainly because it completely blind sided Europe and took them by surprise.

These tactics were used in the successful German invasions of Belgium, the Netherlands, and France in 1940 and relied on sup rise, speed, and ground coverage. Blitzkrieg followed a formulaic approach: attack, penetrate, and encircle.
