  • Dane here! Even politians ran in to save stuff. Brian Mikkelsen who ran in and saved one of the iconic paintings, he is in charge of Dansk Erhverv and was the minister of Culture once. He kept running in to save more, even got there late to the press meeting bc he was checking the building out after most of the fire was put out. I have so much respect for him bc of this
  • So sad, kudos to those who saved the paintings! Much love! Such a courageous selfless act for preservation of history !❤

If you can’t see and be reminded of the old world then all you will see is soulless corporate spaces.

What a historic and beautiful building. Hugs to everyone in Denmark from here on the east coast of America. I’m so sorry for this huge loss. Isak Dinesen is one of my all time favorite writers. ❤️
  • Repairing a roof doesn’t start a fire as such, but arson does. Another history about to be rewritten.

Oldest stock exchange building on earth. Turns 400 years next year. Amsterdam started the first stock exchange, but the building was demolished almost 200 years ago.

Was the Notre Dame destroyed by a renovation as well. Note to future renovators take everything nice out of their before letting people renovate

Europeans and those of us abroad are losing so much of who we are and were now. So sorry about this from a Texan

What a shame. So sorry for the residents of Copenhagen. Sending hugs from California.

    This is very heartbreaking 😢💔

I’m here in Texas crying over the building I learned so much about it when I started going to church when I was in high school and watching hearing that the building will be open in December I’m glad that some workers, worked on the building for 5 years straight the old fashioned way, but now when I look at pictures of the building it just won’t be the same anymore

Heritage professional here! Please STOP the conspiracies! Renovations make these buildings incredibly vulnerable. The scaffolding is also a hindrance to firefighters. I have and MA specializing in protecting preserving historical buildings. In most cases, these old buildings' roofs are made of wood with metal plating as roofing. If a fire ignites in the roof the metal acts like an oven, containing the heat and the fire spreads incredibly fast. I hate that some ignorant people are using our national tragedy as an excuse to be hateful.
  • Is it going to be replaced with another modern soulless building designed by someone who gets paid WAY too much?
  • @paulmorgan1009
How many more renovations are going to end up destroying world monuments!? The folks in here are at fault and should feel the consequences tangibly.

No one in the comment section is actually taking into account what burned. A spire with dragons on it. 4 dragons to be exact. "When humanity can learn to read the language of symbolism, a great veil will fall from the eyes of man" partial quote from Manly P. Hall

This hurts my feeling especially being a dane 😢
