I started using heroin in the Navy in 1977. I shot smack for 17 years and got off right before I turned 40 25 years ago. The last 25 years have been the best years on my life thanks to God that answered my prayers. I am 65 now and retired from a job 2 years ago. To those that are still fighting for sobriety.......keep fighting and ask God to strengthen you because God is a God of deliverance.

You had to live the life back in the day to understand this song. Got married the night before I graduated from H.S. My wife sent me a letter in MCRD boot camp to tell me she was pregnant. Did my bit in Nam. Got hit with just 16 days left in my V.N. tour. Spent 11 months in Balboa hospital, San Diego California.Had dope habit before I came back to the world.Introduced my wife to it, and thats all it took. 1970--2003 . My loving wife overdosed on heroin and was gone. Just like that. It took me till 2015 to get my head together. To late by then. Two of the best kids God put on this Earth. I can thank my wife for that.God only knows how many detoxes and rehabes I went through. In 2015 at the age of 62 I finally said enough. I did it myself. No detoxes, no rehabes, just me. Now at 62, wife dead, two kids, many years in PRISON, I finally said enough. I'll never forget this song. It was cool back in the day, but now I look back and think of one hell of a waste of TWO lives. I hope to God someone woke the HELL up by mine and my wifes wasted lives!!!!

I was born in New York in 1954 and seen the Superfly movie back in the day. Now living in Germany and still listening to this awesome music that's bringing back memories of those days. I'll never get over old school music.
