In another video John shows you how to tape for posture as this technique will help control the position of the thoracic spine and shoulder girdle and also the upper crossed syndrome (UCS) defined by Janda. Great to control forward head posture, thoracic outlet syndrome, cervical pain and even headaches because of the control position. The patient can leave the tape on for 3-5 days and make sure patient is not allergic to any of the products prior to application.

John also has many other videos, e.g. during his hip joint videos he discusses an acetabular labral tear and also a femoroacetabular impingement called an FAI - these are cam and pincer type of impingement. He also mentions perthes disease and osteoarthritis of the hip joint. John also discusses how the hip flexors (psoas) are involved and the iliofemoral ligaments and how they cause an inhibition to the gluteus maximus (Gmax) through the hip extension firing pattern test. Janda and the lower crossed syndrome is also mentioned and how this can cause lower back, facet or disc pathology of L5 or L5 and involve the nerve roots.

John also shows you in his other videos to assess the nerve root level of the adductors (obturator nerve through L3 reflex), patella tendon (femoral nerve through L4 reflex), semitendinosus (tibial / sciatic nerve of L5 reflex) and Achilles / plantar (tibial nerve of sciatic through S1 reflex) and a normal response is classified as 2++. Any reduced hypo-reflex (1+) or increased hyper-reflex (3+++) with Clonus and Babinski positive as might indicate some form of upper motor neurone lesion like Multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord tumour or brain injury.

  • as a soccer coach, and girl dad of a soccer goalie I have found these videos to be so helpful.
  • @CF-kh4bu
Thank you so much, just taped my ankle using your video. So helpful 😊
  • Thank you for the demonstration, I’ve just stopped wearing my surgical boot after 3 weeks since having a moderate ankle sprain but I still feel the need of extra support. Your video has helped me to apply it correctly xx
  • Hi John, I have just done this taping technique on a friend. He said it felt comfortable and provided stability so thanks. One thing about the video, it would be good to see the other side of the ankle to make sure we know the full technique. Thanks Karen
  • This worked great on my right ankle but it feels like my left ankle need the opposite kind of support (stuck in the opposite of the right). Do you have a video for that?
  • @futbol1972
My son is a high school senior wrestler. He sprained annkle and kindda hurt knee last week wrestling. He does not want to take a break and still going to practice. Ankle is a little puffy, just a little bit though. Knee not swollen but is unconformable. Anyways he can use tape and use compression sleeves at the same time? If tape comes off when taking a shower can he just use compression sleeves during the whole day to reduce swelling?
  • @malka7777
Thank you so much john for the video.Do you think i can use this method on a 3 years old girl that walks on her toes with a tendacy to inversion?instead of using a plastic support?and change it every 5-4 days? So she can have a bit quality of life?(from time to time not on a regular base).thank you so much.
  • @sharonroja2134
I had a grade3 ankle sprain without any avulsion fracture and my doctor advised me pop cast for 10 days can I apply k tape after removal of pop for ankle stability
  • @MrMrAzad
Can i use this while my ankle is swollen? Right now my ankle is swollen so im thinking maybe its better to put compression on it (to reduce swollen) instead of KT. Or can i use compression on top of the KT? Sorry for so many questions. What do u think i should do?
  • Don’t remember seeing that during rock taping class, what r u trying to prevent/make better
  • @lisaposhni
Hi John I have been advised by my podiatrist to wear an aircast for 4 weeks after an inversion sprain. Bruised and swollen. Can I use this taping method while using the boot? Or would this just be for support after the boot is off? Thank you!
  • @thepodsourceuk
Could you do an anterior ankle impingement kt tape? I suffer with it on my right ankle and I would really appreciate your help
  • @fast62354
Hii, great stuff. Can I use for ankle stability during fast bowling.??
  • @TheBenngo122
Hi, may I asked how to measure the length of the tape when taping the ankle?
  • @MWong2005
For me I’d like to have seen video from the anchor point at the start.
  • @ascreation2147
How days rest? Anterior tibiofibular ligament is thickened-chronic sprain. Recovery time???? Plz reply?
  • @joth1287
Would be really nice to get to see the other side of the ankle, there... Question: I understand why one would apply the first two long i-strips in that direction if they were coach tape strips. Wouldn't you want to apply them in the opposite direction to keep that ankle stabilized? If I tape a shoulder in a retracted position from scapula to right in front of the gh-joint, I wouldn't go front to back, I'd go back to front. Just asking, not trying to be a smart-ass.
  • Can I use this even if my ankle is swollen from sprain which happened 2 days back? And also is it ok to walk on swollen ankle?
