How to catch an Armadillo

Trapping armadillos can be pretty tricky. There isn't really any baits that are attractive to them. The best way to catch them is to use boards, or some type of blocking to funnel them into your trap. Using a double door trap can be a plus too. There are some wooden traps that you can buy that are "pre scented" with armadillo scent, that seem to do pretty well at catching armadillos, but its still advisable to use something to funnel the armadillos towards your trap. This worked and we caught the perpetrator in one night! No bait or anything needed. Thank you so much for this tip! We had gotten rid of our traps so I bought one late last night. We used some 2x6 boards I had on hand and it only took about 10 minutes to set up at 11:00pm. We woke up this morning and the Texas speed bump was caught!

This on I have by my bird feeders are the size of a kickball. I have one of these traps. I'll have to raise boards next to flowerbed n porch. Chicken wire would work to

What do you use to ATTRACT it into the trap? There’s almost no way to guarantee it’s just going to happen to wander into an empty trap… I have one that is DESTROYING my garden EVERY night, and I finally have a live trap but don’t know how to entice it

Clint Johnson from Louisiana makes an excellent lure. Trap can be set with no guide boards.

They are some pesky little vermin. They can mess up a garden for sure or what I hear from others I watch.

I have a wooden trap with the 2 trap doors and caught about a dozen this year. I have had them break open the wire mesh traps because they are that strong. If you're in a humid area, the wooden traps warp and swell. It's a struggle. Trying to work on a good design that requires minimum maintenance. The armadillo baits do not work. Do not buy them. Waste of money
