⚠ MORE INFO ⚠ This video wouldn't have been possible without Botul. He created the original iceberg and helped me endlessly with this project. Please consider watching his POSTAL retrospective, it's 2 hours long and incredibly high quality! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ2pHeWcZ3c ~ This has been a real labor of love and, aside from a few monstrous technical issues, was a joy to craft. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did creating it! ~ Well over 100 hours went into this video. Between the research, scripting, image creation, narration, footage capture, editing, rendering, etc and due to the content, there is a chance this will get demonetized. Please consider supporting me by joining the membership program. (Link in description.) ~ Mistakes - ULTRAKILL is incorrectly labeled as Overkill at 03:09 - Lambda is mispronounced as lambada at 03:34 - 4:45 The beta shotgun model is from the games alpha and the animation was actually created by @Keshafilm - Dude_Scratch_Temp.Wav is misspelled as Sratch 9:18 - Wrote ‘employee’s’ instead of ‘employees’ 28:31
  • i love how instead of disturbing facts about this game it's just showing some of the games most obscure and wildest gags. for such a shocking and controversial game, there isn't many truly disturbing things surrounding it

The Postal series is crass and offensive, but does not feel hateful towards anyone in particular - rather, it's trolling everyone and everything, including itself. It's like a weird friend or uncle, who went through an edgy phase in high school, but learned irony with age and is fun to hang out with, since he still makes you laugh through the facepalm. You won't invite him to family dinners, but you will let him crash on the couch every once in a while.

That ending cutoff felt so sudden i cannot tell if it was on purpose or a vegas rendering error
  • I got to meet Zach Ward at a meet and greet at the christmas story house and took the chance to tell him i loved him in the postal movie and he laughed and said the dude was his favorite antihero i think he was just glad to have someone talk about anything other then Christmas story

Great video, here's some things that are ever so slightly wrong. -The beta shotgun wasn't left in POSTAL 2's files, Running with Scissors released some beta files they had laying around some time after the game came out, that's where you could find the shotgun files that were ported to Eternal Damnation. -The [...] Hunter arcade machine wasn't added in the A Week in Paradise mod, it was there in the earliest versions of POSTAL 2 before being replaced. -The POSTAL 1 Demon theory is basically confirmed. If you go to the sound options the Dude's voice is labeled as "Demon".

Green Elephant is quite popular in post-soviet countries and is often quoted and memed here. The silhouette on the box art is in fact from the scene where Pahom brings excrements on a plate to protagonist. But what you're missing is that he presents the dish to protagonist while saying "Bruh, I've brought you a meal"("Братишка, я тебе покушать принес" in russian). This line is the most iconic from the movie and often used to describe situations where something of poor quality is being presented. What I'm saying is that RWS knew about the meme and used it to say that Call of Duty is s#!t Maybe I'm a bit late and somebody commented about it already, but I'm too lazy to go through all comentaries. Forgive english, i am non-anglo
  • Fun fact : postal 1 loading screen artist worked tom and jerry snes artwork and disney artwork as well.

I believe the use of the voice-line "Evil must die" 8:07 is from the original Postal (due to it sounding like Rick Hunter's Postal 1 performances) as in it the Postal Dude is instead a man convinced the world around him is evil and his goal is out to purge it. This seems to be forgotten sometimes considering the Postal Redux seems to change this.

As someone who has a historical interest in the Post Office, I would like to see a video on the lawsuit, please.

When I saw the title "Call of Pahom" and saw the cover, I couldn't believe my eyes, because I knew exactly where it is from and bursted out laughing. I can't imagine the sheer horror you had experienced researching this topic. "The Little Green Elephant" ("Zelyoniy Slonik", "Little" in a sense that elephant itself is a little, not that it is a bit green) is one of the most famous pieces of Russian arthouse film industry notorious for it's dark, graphic and absurdistic, almost Kafkian tone. It is notorious for its almost nonsensical dialogue, pretty weird acting and a lot of adult themes. It's hard to talk about without spoiling anything, because it is more of a performance than an actual film — it needs to be experienced to be understood. The story is also pretty simple: most of the film is just two dudes sitting on the brig talking to eachother about whatever and occasionally someone comes in to check them out. The two main characters, known only as "Little Brother" ("Bratishka"), because that what he was called by his mate, and "Pahom" (from, as it was mentioned in the video, actor's surname Pahomov), because he was never called by his name in the picture. I highly recommend everyone to never touch it if you want to keep a semblance of sanity. I'm beyond the point of no return, but you still have a chance to turn back and never even think about it ever again. I had warned y'all. That being said, you can find a lot of parallels between Little Green Elephant and Postal 2. Both are depicting slow descent into madness (Dude and Paradise itself and Bro from Postal and LGE respectively). Both are bringing up some really heavy themes (to put it lightly — "shit-feeding" is far from being the craziest thing that happens in the film). Both are made to be giant middle fingers to the modern culture and their medias and both are hiding much deeper ideas than it may seem on the first glance. The Little Green Elephant went to become one of the staples of Russian YTP and underground meme culture as a whole, it is still referenced and quoted by a lot of people and undoubtedly made a huge impact on the modern generation. However, I think that this was just a nod to a huge cult following Postal 2 got in Russia (guess why Akella bought the rights to create Postal 3?) alongside the reference to the other piece of absurdist art. Nothing more, nothing less

The co-op ending where the multiple dudes helped the main dude escape is just his Schizophrenia, he likely killed a doctor when they went to give him medicine for his illnesses and justifies it by pretending more of him was present and proceeds to escape. This is supported by another redux ending having him fighting tens of himself to keep hold of a Mayan pyramid as the leader of himself, and the ability to add Clowns as filler characters for the Co-op playthrough. Normally the clowns try to kill you in the campaign, but in Co-op you're allied with clown bots instead of players if you do it alone, showing the dude can create any friend or foe with his mind alone. The co-op ending is showing him accepting himself, escaping, and continuing what he does with all of his illnesses. I think the Postal games in general could be endless versions of postal dude in his own mind, endlessly fighting everything, therefor the story can continue until the end of time in any direction he feels like. He is Postal. The Postal. The dude. He is the entire story, we're just not looking at the true him all the time.
  • Nice video! Here's another secret: In Postal 2 in the basement of the insane asylum building there is a chair. If you start kicking it, it will spin faster and faster and if you started urinating while being on top of the spinning chair, it will draw a pentagram on the floor.

The entire Postal series is like the finest vintages of toilet wines and i say that with the absolute love for the series (well, there's one exception that we do not speak of, or two because it's kinda linked into that other one), you have to be a true connoisseur of finer arts to truly appreciate it.
  • If no one is gonna say it, I will. Postal dude is cute and I would gladly sign his petition.
  • @coolboyyo654
Green Elephant, that weird movie, is/was sort of a meme in certain places, especially eastern europe. Given the amount of clearly slav fans i wouldn't be shocked if it was referenced as a sort of nod to that side of the fanbase.
  • I don't think the...last one is canon because the one with the girls age says she is deceased but the other one features her giving a comment about the dude dating her (so she's alive in the other one), so there's two completely different stories in the promo images, if anything they probably just chose to reuse to same pictures of the people instead of getting new ones

It’s kinda crazy how big this game has gotten in recent years. Thanks Civvie!
