  • Shoutout the guy who dropped joke of the night in chat: When a young blip gets old enough to drink, it goes to get sloshed at all the local millibars.

I think it's important to remember, if the blip did produce a tornado it would've gone from nothing to a tornado in like 30 minutes. It wasn't even warned as a thunderstorm and it had already reached 45,000 feet. Stay vigilant everyone!

CANT WAIT TO TELL MY GRANDKIDS I WITNESSED THE BLIP!
  • @simpletimes2819
It's crazy.. an enhanced risk with 0 severe thunderstorm warnings.. never know tommorow might be worse.

Thank you, Ryan, for letting us vicariously enjoy storm chasing from the safety of our home. I found you last year and your reports remind me of our early days of dating and marriage. Our family plans in the spring would change in a heartbeat as my brother-in-law would dash out to chase a storm cell. They would race to find and get just ahead of a tornado to place a research mechanism (called "Toto") in the path for a direct hit. He loved it and his subsequent work in tornado research was instrumental in applying Doppler radar to tornado research. (You may have heard of him...Don Burgess is his name.) He just retired, but has loved his exciting career and we who live in "Tornado Alley"have all benefitted greatly. I know he misses his days "in the field" and at the storm lab in Norman, but he still keeps our scattered family warned of dangerous weather. How different things are from my childhood days when we were totally dependent on local"spotters" and watching the skies ourselves!

I love that someone asked "what happened to the sound?" Ryan..."its on we just haven't had any warnings." 😅

It’s Not too late. I’m here waiting in Kansas City. I was so excited listening to you today that I forward it to my 30-year-old sons… And told him I was gonna stay up and wait… If it was coming, I was gonna catch it. Drinking coffee at Quiktrip right now. Layered in Gore-Tex. Sweating. 64-year-old storm chaser wannabe. This reminds me so much of my father when he was an air traffic controller at the downtown airport. Him up in the tower went bad weather would hit would call our house and of the five kids. My brother usually answered the phone. And he would say “get your sister on the phone… Can you guys get your mom and go to the basement. The boys knew which sister to get not the oldest one the second oldest that would be instructed by her father to get on the roof the second story… And look south and tell him what’s coming. lol. There was 10 years old giant binoculars, barefoot no Gore-Tex no fear. My four siblings would be in the basement corner under the steel desk with my mom… And my mom would look up and say “where the hell is your sister? “ am I brother Joe the one that would always know everything about me. Which she very calmly she’s up on the roof. She’s talking to dad on the phone. She’s telling him what’s coming.” 🤣👈🏼 She would say to the oldest brother, my little brother Robert… “Oh goddamnit get up there and get her the hell off the roof !” Robert McCormick explained to her she will not come I can go, but she will not come down… Not if there’s a chance she could see something. So you might as well forget it. Unless I’ll just stay down here safe together.” So here I am with my old iPhone and my old iPad case I kicked some action. I want to be ready. But now you’re telling me it could well be a great pumpkin blip? It’s OK… I wasn’t planning on getting on the roof. But I’ll stay tuned. If you need me to get on the roof anytime… In Kansas City, the southern part of Johnson County, Kansas… I will do it for you. The meantime, I’m gonna get Blip T-shirts made. Not to be confused with the Goodyear blip I have been on that . OK, wait that’s a blimp. Never mind. So this is kind of like kissing your blip sister? Great Pumpkin warning.

2024 just doesn’t want to seem to produce so far, and that’s a good thing!
  • @sojiiiiiiii
One blip to rule them all, one blip to find them... One blip to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.
  • @AlienXCherie
Was so proud of our Blip! from a small sprinkle maker to a mature warned supercell ... they grow so fast!!!!

Mostly in my time paying attention to SPC outlooks, I’d say 10 % hatched verifies 40-50 % of the time. This year though, only the February 27th & March 14th have verified, even though the worst of March 14th happened in a 2 % area, so it’s really only 1 out of 8-9, if we’re strictly talking 10 % hatched zones. That’s just how it goes sometimes, folks. You’ll go through periods where a lot will underplay or bust (2024 so far) and you’ll go through periods where a lot will verify (2023). Don’t ever ignore the threats, but don’t ever fear the worst & get mad at the weather guys. Weather is unpredictable!
