After owning our iKamper Skycamp 2.0 for less than six weeks, we have sold it. A lot of people have direct messaged us asking why. In this Vlog we explain.

Just to be clear.

We have no affiliation or alliance to any brands, we pay for all of our gear out of pocket.

This video isn’t to slam iKamper, rather its purpose is explain our experience with the most recently produced Skycamp 2.0 .

If you have a Skycamp version 1 and don’t know that it is different from the 2.0, please do your due diligence before you comment.

If anyone is interested, you guys can still see both of our posts on iKamper Facebook Group with turned off comments and all the responses we have received.

The overall goal of this Vlog is to inform.

There's a lot of this going on in the overland community at the moment. Glad to see you publicly investigated. This level of customer service for 4k is insane.

I'm loving my Skycamp 2.0 (probably the newest version). But I can confirm that I can't leave anything else in it except the original matrasse to close it properly. I admire every honest opinion because this makes it much easier to get what you really want. Great job guys! 👍🏼

Spending that much money and having to experience what you went through is absurd! Thanks for making this video!

I purchased the Roofnest Condor Overland 2 XL from a company that no longer sells Ikamper as they had many issues with Ikamper. I’m glad to have bought the Roofnest!

At $4K i would want comfort and excellent customer service. Thanks for the heads up here in the UK and i will now stick to my tent. Stay safe you two and love from Scotland. x.

Thanks for making this video and all the detail and time you put into it. Very helpful. Going to shop a bit more now, especially after your experience with iKamper customer service.
  • You are supposed to stack one mattress on top of the other before closing. That is why it is leaving a mark on the pad. Most recommend keeping a window open on each side to allow the air to escape as you close the tent.
  • Thanks so much for this information. We’ve been researching rooftop tents and appreciate your honest review. Customer service is very important to us so we’ve crossed iKamper off of our list. For $4K purchase you expect great support from the company. Thanks for saving us lots of potential headache.

The best part of the video was the sneaking and silently door opening in the background 2:22. hahahhahahahahhaha

I’m in the market for a rooftop. Customer service is just as important as a quality product. I will be steering clear of the Ikamper. Thanks guys!
  • @CSC1steel
You two are great! Thank you for making this.

I bought a Bean teardrop trailer and added the iKamper 2.0 to my list of accessories. I am expecting delivery this summer but now will now be removing the iKamper from my order. I believe this is a genuine experience from genuine people. Thank you for helping others. KRT please let us know what you go with next.
  • Thanks guys, you helped me decide No, to buying this. I have bought other Diamondback products, but the tent they offer is the one you are reviewing. For over 4,000.00 this tent should be functional like a Cadillac. Thank you much:)

Thank you for the honest review. I was looking at this tent for my jeep and been reading allot about the mattress issue and closing.. I dont understand how hard it can be from an engineering standpoint to just make the overall shell 20mm higher and solve this issue all together! With 20mm higher shell, they can add a bigger foam mattress AND it will close without an issue.. Instead they do this... oh well!

Just ordered the Skycamp 2.0 last week and now I see your video! Ordered mine from iKamper Canada so hopefully my customer service experience is a little better, but I wont get my hopes up. Thanks for the awesome video!

Thank you for posting about your issues with ikamper. This is great information to know before spending so much on a tent. Appreciate your honesty! Curious to know what other options you’re looking at for a RTT.
  • Thanks for sharing your experience. I've really been on the fence for purchasing an RTT. Leaning towards a soft top, hoping its mechanical simplicity will make it a bit more reliable... time will tell.
  • @LifeSurfingDude
Guys, thank you a bunch for your honest review. Also, thank you a lot for putting this video out. I agree with you it is very frustrating nowadays to find genuine reviews of the product pretty much anywhere you go. I salute your for taking the time to make this video. After hearing your story I do feel disappointed cause I really would like to give them a chance and this is really a premium price for the tent. It is not cheap and receiving this level of customer service is unacceptable. Damn, you can buy a good used car for this kind of price. Do you mind me asking what other products did you study, please, see if you can share. Also, which mattress did you end up buying to ensure the tent was closing, was it comfortable? regards.
  • @kshaw7293
thanks for your review : it helped me to remove ikamper from my consideration in a RTT. It takes alot of time and effort to stand on principle : thanks for sharing
