Being a nurse myself I can say some nurses are in hunger for that doctor title . Just a sense of gratification . And educational institutes knowing this just grab the opportunity.

Her doctorate in nursing degree isn't costing her $300,000. I'm certain that includes her undergraduate loans and the fact that she has been living off her graduate student loan money because she isn't working full time. How do I know? Because I did the same when I went to graduate school for physical therapy. My tuition for those 3 years was $55-60K but since it was a full time program I didn't/couldn't work full time and I lived off an additional $55K of my student loans for 3 years! I learned about Dave Ramsey soon after I graduated. Now I have $39,000 of my graduate student loans left to pay off!

Sadly, it sounded like she didn't even really know what difference the doctorate would make. Her knowledge of it sounded very second hand.

Fiance RUN AWAY FAST!!!!! She will always be stressed over debt and money!!!! 300,000 plus interest is a lot to handle

This is the exact reason I dropped out of the fancy private university, paid off my debt by delivering pizza and have been debt free... The anxiety and depression that comes with debt is not worth it.
