This is the biggest free kitchen in the world, with 150,000 people attending each day which can double that on festival days. It is the richest temple in all of India thanks to all the donations from the Sikh communities all around the world which help keep the tradition of feeding everyone going. These donations from Sikhs also make it the richest temple in India. The 1 tonne of gold reflect the wealth of the holiest Sikh place of worship. It's also the most visited religious place in the world and is open to all people of all race/caste/creed/wealth. People sit next to one another during langer regardless of their background to show a sign of unity. Also, one of the most fascinating things about the Golden Temple is that it has 4 entrances, one on each side of the temple, which is a sign that everyone from any background is welcome. It is truly awe-inspiring and the most incredible place in all of India. ❤

The origin of Harmandir Saheb (Golden Temple) can be traced to 17th Century when India was suffering Famine and Poverty under Foriegn Invaders who taxed Farmers and caused Mass Starvations resulting in death of Millions. Back then, Sikh Gurus (Saints) made it a practie to feed anyone who visited their home. This evolved into a Community Kitchen over Centuries. There was a point when Sikh Gurus had to sell their Valuables and Posessions at home, just to keep the Kitchen running. Thus Sikhs took on their Role of "Feeding the Poor People of India during tought times", And consider this "A Service to God or Waheguru", As the Sikhs call God. We Hindus are eternally grateful to the Sikh Community for this Noble work of Charity.

It's funny and interesting they have strict rules inside the temple but outside in the road there is no rules 🫤
