  • I was 12 years old. Don Shula on one sideline and George Allen on the other. John Facenda narrator. Can not get any better.
  • That iconic voice that I remember listening to so many years ago. He was the voice of the NFL.

How great was the music from those championship game films!!!

John Facenda's narration is the gold standard. My goodness!!!
  • They don’t make docs like this anymore. So well done. Music, narration, editing, writing. All those nfl film Sabol produced docs from 69-81. Perfection.
  • “Helmet askew, belly protruding, socks sagging around his ankles, Kilmer was once again spiritual leader of the Redskins.” Gotta love John Facenda.

It's hard to believe that's it been almost 50 years a team went undefeated shows how hard perfection is😮

The opening 4:45 of this video = PURE GOLD! Unbelievable - gives me goosebumps watching and listening to this!

I was a rabid Dolphins fan, even though I lived in LA. I was nine years old. This Superbowl is as ingrained and sacred in my memory as Christmas and weddings
  • Marv Fleming was an underrated player he played in five of the first eight Super Bowls.

First perfect season in NFL history! The 1972 Miami Dolphins!
  • @brianarbenz7206
Garo Yepremian -- the only perfect passer in NFL history! Never an incomplete pass.

Eleven men on eleven paths of pursuit all with one mission seek out Larry Brown and punish him. Awesome word play!!!!
  • Washington lost this game before the opening kickoff even occurred. I've read several books on the 1972 Redskins, and many said George Allen's incessant nervousness and griping about the media demands for the Super Bowl eventually began to affect them. Putting the game plan in a week ahead of time instead of the week of the game and keeping a tight curfew on Redskins players after they arrived in Los Angeles made them extremely uptight. Many players and coaches said they had their best practice on Wednesday, but by Sunday they were emotionally drained. As a team, they were ill equipped to deal with the Super Bowl hype, while Miami was much more relaxed due to having been there the year before. Finally, it's important to remember that Washington relied on emotion maybe more than any other team in the league. Defeating their arch-rival Cowboys in the NFC Championship game was, for many players, their Super Bowl (Similar to Philadelphia heading into Super Bowl XV). There was just no way for Washington to reach that emotional level again against a Miami team it had no history against. Miami was the better team, but Washington didn't play the type of football in this game that it played all season to get there.

10 years later, Miami would meet Washington in the Super Bowl(Also in the Los Angeles Area). But the end result would be far different.

Miami Dolphins - the only team to win a Super Bowl without scoring a point in the 2nd half

Epic game to end the epic season. Music starting at 10:00 is the best ever on an NFL highlight film. RIP Don Shula.
